Tricks to make media, color parameters for grass - need help for mapmaking

I need help with mapmaking! i have photoshop 5 LE, no indexed color saving, and i just cant find the right color parameters for grass and dirt ( you know, H ,R,G,B and so on). I also need some tips on the right effects like distorsions to speed things up.i am losing my nerves on it

So, you could always find out what the "right color parameters" are by picking a map that you already like, lets say, Willow Creek, popping it open with Loathing, exporting the color map and then opening up the exported color map with your Photoshop and taking a look the grass and dirt with the color picker.

I'd recommend getting a hold of a newer version of Photoshop though if you can!
