You always give credit to the person or people who made the files you wish to use... with their permission. Even if you modified it, you still give them credit since you didn't make it yourself.

Officially, I don't think you have to legally. Hence those BUNGiE disclaimers we have to put in our readmes. Don't get me wrong, I'd be affronted and annoyed if someone used it without mentioning myself, Cid and Cydonian in the readme - but anyway!
