I'm not convinced that was the case at the time.:) Da Cid (: McCl wrote:Well I assume Mazzarin is dead and Sinis was an alive avatara.
The whole way they talk to one another doesn't suggest old chums in the slightest.
And why would he say "I though you died" to a Shade who is for all intents and purposes is dead (he'd of had to have died to become a Shade).
No it sounds to me he's not talking about Sinis the Avatara/Sorcerer, but instead he's talking about Sinis the Shade.

Shades aren't necessarily dead. There's flavor texts saying they're the reanimated corpses of avatara, but others that describe living mages submitting themselves to shadification. Anyway regardless of that, I reckon if something is undead then its not really dead, and hence can be killed (again).
Regardless, it seems evident that Alric knew Sinis personally (and vice versa), not just from their conversation but also that Alric recognized Sinis. It may even be possible that Alric knew Sinis before he was a shade (?).
The Mazzarin referred to in their conversation could be the shadified Mazz in the Watcher's army (that you kill in the Watcher level), or it could be some other mage/shade with the same name. If it were the original Mazzarin (non shade) then Alric must be a lot lot older than we think

I assume Sinis was an Avatara because:
1. Alric knows him.
2. Mazzarin would have to be a Shade for Alric to be alive during the event.
3. Mazzarin collapsed the shrine of Nyx upon him (would one Shade collapse a shrine on another Shade for any good reason?).
Alric probably only shows a slight annoyance at Sinis because he's a Shade now. Maybe they didn't like each other, though.
Time to make a plugin about it. XD

Hey Iron maybe you can help me with this...
I'm not sure if it was this way in Myth TFL, but in the Fallen Levels, Scaripant, though described as one of The Deciever's Shades, is actually on the *Watcher's* team.
A boo-boo on BUNGiE's part perhaps, but it raises the question - are Shade really that 'tied' to their masters? Does their power cease when their master dies, or can they simply go someplace else?
Keep in mind, Phelot held up pretty well for 60 years even though Soulblighty pants was off in the Untamed Lands again.
There is room for endless debate on this!

Okay I got the models but now I'm too dumb to do anything with 'em
I think Shades are tied to their masters so their masters can use "telekinisis" (or something like that) to control lesser troops.William Wallet wrote:A boo-boo on BUNGiE's part perhaps, but it raises the question - are Shade really that 'tied' to their masters? I also think that Shades would tie to any Fallen Lord (or something else with power equal to a Fallen Lord) that was available. Soooo: Phelot must have switched his connection to Soulblighter whilst he was in the Untamed Lands to avoid dissipating into a dark demension or something.
If he wasn't connected to SB in the Great War, he would have switched to SB.
I might have a solution to the Sinis confusion:
Sinis was a living person.
He was attacked by Mazzarin (a Shade) , and he collapsed a shrine on him.
The Deceiver ressurected him as a Shade before The Watcher could.
Alric knew Sinis socially. He thought he'd seen the last of Sinis when he died.
Alric realises that Sinis is evil and kills him. He knew Sinis because he said "Let me handle this..."

Makes sense.
Although, Sinis and Mazzarin could have concievably both been Dark when it happened - but just serving different Fallen Lords at the time (they were always having at it).
The best thing about that idea is it gives their confrontation a pretty narrow timeframe that would work somewhere in the 17 years prior to TFL.
