Reply from Alex:
William - thanks for the note and your commitment to Myth! I'm glad you've
enjoyed it so much for so long. Unfortunately, as this happens with time,
the people at Take2 associated with Myth and Bungie are no longer there. I
don't have a good contact for you to even make an appeal to.

I wish you the best of luck.

Cheers,
Alex

I had a feeling that might happen.
Heck, the people associated with Myth aren't even in BUNGIE anymore, let alone Take 2.

The best (most recent) open source code to base a new myth game on would probably be Marathon 2 and the Vengeance tool. Oh wait. You were kidding?

Does this remind anyone of a more familiar image?

No one's gonna do it :P

Remember Myth Realms? I don't think ANYONE took that seriously but it was an awesome image.

No, I don't remember Myth Realms. And no I wasn't joking and no I don't have the knowledge on how to do a new game based on another engine. I have the desire to do a new game based on a compatible engine, and have felt for months that I am on the cusp of being able to make a new Myth data compatible game. So, I guess I'm saying if people are going to do it, I want to be involved.
I think the first step would, of course, be a two column list of "Stuff that Rocks" and "Stuff that Sucks".

damn dude, that opens a new dimension.
I'm always astounded by the genius and new frontiers I find with you guys.
That would rock...count me in for whatever you guys need.
I'm no programmer but in whatever area I could help I will.

My use of the word 'PiD' as in Pathways Into Darkness was a complete joke of course, But I always wondered if anyone would have the masochist quality required to engineer a Myth game out of an earlier engine. Hehehe.

After seeing this thread sit dead for a few months, I decided to renew it by further action. I have created an online petition. Please sign it and send it along to any concerned. When it reaches 100 signatures, I will try to get it Slashdotted. The URL:
http://www.petitiononline.com/freemyth/petition.html
Thanks,

Am I the only one who thinks online petitions are about as useful as a dried up worm?

Maybe useless, but still worth the 2-3 minutes it takes, even if it's only a slight chance of it happening. Everyone here should sign the petition :)
