Alive in Joburg is a science fiction short film directed by Neill Blomkamp, released in 2005 by Spy Films. It runs approximately six minutes long and was filmed in Johannesburg, South Africa. It is noted for its visual effects as well as it's documentary-style imagery.
The film has been highly acclaimed critically and is considered the reason that Blomkamp was offered the director's job for the upcoming Halo film.

He is indeed directing the Halo movie, and I for one am looking forward to this. The documentary style short he did that I have linked below is awesome.
