Myth II, uninstall bug

Post by saulob »

Does the lastest version, 1.5.1, fix the infamous uninstall bug ?

Can I use it (the uninstall) without problem ?

thanks.

Why would you want to?!

But yeah, I think that was fixed back when Bungie re-released Myth II as 1.1 before it actually got sold to anyone.

I think. I don't know, so you might want to... I dunno, wait for someone else to tell you before you start uninstalling things. Personally I've never had to uninstall it. :P

Only Myth 2 version 1.0 was affected by the uninstall bug. Very few copies of those CDs went into circulation.

Well if you had a Mac there wouldn't be an uninstallation problem, you could just put it in the trash. Uninstalled!
Okay I got the models but now I'm too dumb to do anything with 'em

Another reason for why Macs are superior to PCs.
Click on the picture below for my Myth 2 scenario.

As far as I know...All you do have to do on a Pc is put it in the trash as well. I think Myth is pretty much self contained (all files in one folder) on a PC as well as a mac.
do it.

Which might make one wonder why the need to run a Myth 'uninstaller' in the first place...

That's probably why it shipped that way ;)

On Windows programs install some things like Start Menu shortcuts and installation Paths into the registry (that can then be used by an update installer that will automatically know where you placed Myth). This stuff isn't cleared. Though, unlike many Windows programs, Myth II doesn't install any random DLLs or anything outside its own folder, so other than the Start Menu shortcuts and a few registry keys used by installers, it's self-contained.
