Black Map

Post by remedial »

Hey there everyone.

I recently revived a color map I made a long while back and I'm ready to import it to loathing. But instead of going smoothly, Loathing seems to crash right before it opens and when I restart it and open it, the whole thing is black.

What am I forgetting to do? It's a pict file 1792 x 1280 and I think I indexed it at about 240 colors? Anyway, I'm just trying to get back in the loop for fun but I guess i don't remember as much as I thought....Oh and I'm also running this without the cd- do i need that gimmick?

Maybe its black because the Shadow Map might be. Try changing that.

Which version of Loathing are you using and on what platform?
Also you don't seem too sure if you indexed it or not :P
240 colours is what you should have it at.

hmmm- well i certainly indexed it - And i guessed right at 240- So that's in order.

And i haven't even had the chance to implement a shadow map- so i'm pretty sure that isn't the problem.

As I said before, it crashes right after i choose the .pict file for a "new map." Then when i open the map it's all black- even the overhead.

I have Myth II 1.5.1 installed. I'm not sure if this version applies to the fear and loathing versions.

If you're on a pc, the file has to be a .bmp 8 bit, and if you're mac it needs to be an indexed .pct file.

Other'n that, it should be smooth going. Dunno.

Alrighty I got it- Thanks for all the help!

Turns out the file was defaulted at 75 pixels per inch. Not sure why- My photoshop seems to switch up the presets on me.

And with that all i can say is keep your eyes peeled for a new kickass map :)
