how does melee work now?
Yeah, I know. I'm a noob.
For the past while in melee fights I've just been using shift double click to tell my melee to attack a single enemy melee unit among many enemy units. Then something made me think that this was wrong and that I was supposed to be using both shift and control to tell my melee to attack only one unit...
If I have a group of my melee selected, say... anything more than three... and I want to attack one enemy melee unit that's surrounded by other enemy units of the same type... what bottons do I have to press and how many times do I have to click?
I have TFL Mouse Actions selected in preferences... if that makes a difference.
I tried to find an answer to this question in the 1.6 read me, but was unsuccesful.

Well I don't really know the implications of having 'TFL mouse actions' checked so I'll ignore it.
Shift double click will attack a single enemy, shift click will attack one unit type (remember units will auto after their original target dies!). I still suspect getting close to the enemy in good order and letting it auto pretty much is the best way. Just direct the few cowardly units at the back manually or they'll never fight.

hmm yah...
I just set up a map with a few warriors (team_0) and some thrall (team_1). I could not attack a single thrall with the warriors no matter what I tried. I also tried Shift dbl-click at various clicking speeds and still got nothing. So Im not so sure thats how it works...
myrd?
CIK?
iron?
anyone who knows?

do it.
Well I know you can change the units in fear to attack in different styles so it could vary map to map. But as far as I know the regular style you can only target a single enemy with 2 or fewer melee at once, so you have to micromanage your men 2 at a time, starting in the back and working forward. Or if you position your troops facing the enemy and let them auto they will all attck the closest and then fight like smart people instead of idiots. Or catch a stray and use him as the start of your melee charge

I doubt its a 1.6 change, 1.6 feels identical to 1.5.1 to me mostly.
