Installing standard multiplayer Myth II maps to hard drive?

Post by The Seeker »

After a long Myth absence, I'm installing it on one of my new(er) systems. I'd like to have the standard Myth II multiplayer maps installed to my hard drive. What's the best way to do that? The Large install and then delete the solo levels somehow? The Small install and then copy over some stuff from the CD? I'm installing on Mac OS 9 on a G4 tower using my Soulblighter CD.

Do the large install. The standard multiplayer maps are included. I'm not sure the small install even works with the 1.6 patch.

Plugins you can unzip into the /plugins/ folder inside the Myth II folder.

Large install...removing solo levels?

Ok thanks. But then can I delete the solo levels & still stream them off the CD when I want to play them? I don't have room to keep 500MB on this disk all the time. Am I going to be able to find the solo levels easily to delete them?

The solo levels are all wrapped up in the Install tags along with the multi maps, so...no. It's not as simple a matter as finding a few files to delete, you have to actually hack open the install tags and get rid of the unneeded resources inside. And I'm not sure, but doing that might also make it so you can't play online either, though I don't know.

Wasn't there originally some kind of Multiplayer Only installer?

There was, and that's what he's talking about. Howevever I don't know its possible any more.

Myth's a good game, and well worth having all 500mbs worth. Delete some porn! :P

HAHA! That was good :D Or buy a larger HDD and keep there Myth and porn both :P

And talking serious: If you remove all tags which solo uses, what will be shown when you shift-click on New Game? And if Myth even run without those tags?

Hmmm, I'll have to ponder what I'll do. I know I can play multiplayer with a small install, it's just slower to load. Delete porn!?! I mean, I know thrall are hot and all, but...no living porn?!?

Now if playmyth.net will just respond to my email about registration....

Hmmm, porn, PlayMyth, PlayBoy...do we need our own PlayMyth magazine featuring Fetch in...fetching...poses?

I'm not sure how appealing that would be - I mean, old lightning-shooting crones posing in the stolen skins of dead guys?

Could be. Blame playmyth.net for not answering their email faster. I discovered projectmagma, rediscovered Myth, but can't get registered with playmyth.net yet. It may be driving me to insanity. All I can do now is sit around and stare at Fetch sprites.
