Take 2 is dead.
Take 2 is dead.
Looks like Take 2 is screwed now. So now what happens to our favorite game property?
I decided to look up in the sky, and lo and behold there was a BoB. I stared at him, and he stared back. There was silence for a great while until he said in a thunderous, booming voice..."Okay, Okay, DON'T Frogblast the ventcore."

I don't think it will make any difference in terms of Myth II. The company will still be there, just either with a different name, or board of directors, or whatever etc.

I hope they get a new board of directors, change their name to 'Take Three' and then fire all the previous management while tying the past management's severance pay and any hope of future positive employment references to a non-disclosure agreement that restricts them from saying anything publically about the firings.Myrd wrote:Link: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/ ... iness/home

Wheter Take 2 wants to sell or not, I can't think of any reason either the Bungie division of Microsoft, or WideLoad would want to buy Myth from Take2.Lugas wrote:Does this mean they may want to sell Myth and Oni to Bungie or Wideload?
MSBungie has xBox priorities and don't really seem to care about cross platform games at all, and WideLoad has one game to it's credit, with one more coming out "soon" - hard to imagine they would have the resources or motivation to purchase the rights back.
Besides, with EITHER group - what would their motivation be? It's hard to imagine any of the existing games being upgraded to the kind of WOW factor money-making game Myth was when it was first released without being built from scratch. Personally I think the Magma/FlyingFlip/MythDev developers have done great work and accomplished more than I would have imagined a non-original-bungie-developer could have done in fixing bugs and adding features to enhance gameplay and keep the game running on newer hardware/OSes but at heart it's an old game and there's got to be lots of architectural/design issues/limitations that would cripple any effort at trying to revamp such an old code base to 2007 computer game standards.
That said, of course I'd love for someone who really cared about the games and who had the time and money to fund full time development of the games to get the rights and release a Myth 4, or a Myth II: 2008 (maybe even hiring some of the magma myth developers) but I'd also love for Scarlett Johansen to fall head over heels in love with me, but I don't think either are likely to happen in the foreseeable future. And for what it's worth I would love to be proven wrong about either.

Well, once phase one of my plan is complete, this part should be a trifle.Baak wrote:Scarlet doesn't do anything for me, but it would be interesting if she bought the rights to Myth and gave it to us all as a gift.
ps. Scarlett doesn't "do anything for you"? Granted she's more than a bit too young for some of us geezers, but good god man, what are you - DEAD?
