OoH Downloads - Feedback Please :)

Post by Baak »

I've updated the OoH Downloads page with more OoH goodies, and am in need of some feedback. The two items that were updated (StoneHeart RDF and Sleepy Hollow Redux) have highlighted (as in a pen highlighter) text at the top of their description and the word "[Update]" in their title.

When I get some free time (:: laughs hysterically ::) I am hoping to put the separate categories on tabbed pages. For now it's all on one page, so it takes a few seconds to load the first time on broadband, and the remaining dial-up folks are... well... screwed. ;)

My main questions for people are especially aimed at Mac users. I can't tell right now if the description text is too small. I'm hoping to update this as well, but would like to know if it's at least legible for the time being. Also anything else that looks really whacked on a Mac (heh) would be appreciated.

If a couple of Mac users could please download the ADT zip and let me know if it unzips for them ok, that would be extremely helpful. There was some oddness once upon a time with some of my zips being incompatible on the Mac (I thought a zip was a zip, but apparently not). I'd like to know specifically if the ADT zip is ok or has problems. Downloading one other larger zip and testing would be even better.

With the plugins and updates I posted this past week I've managed to narrow down my remaining Myth plugin projects to:

* RDF Gold
* UGR Anywhere (should go public next week - let's you play Uber Ghol Riot on virtually any map)
* MythWarrior Anywhere
* WWII Anywhere (includes WWII items like medkits, RPG's, grenades)
* RDF - Return to White Falls (solo map)

Thanks in advance for the feedback! :)

Dagnabbit - there was a bug in the Sleepy Hollow Redux update - will have it fixed asap (hopefully Sunday) - everything else ok.

I can read it fine on my mac...running FF on OSX.

Should def paginate or at least put some anchor links that go back up to the top of the page in the meantime.

Thanks, toxyn - until I get enough time to do the paginating (defintely on my list) I went ahead and added "[^]" links on each entry (to the right of the plugin's date) that will take you back to the top of the page.

The bug on Sleepy Hollow Redux was very subtle:

Apparently when checking for "Netgame time < 2 seconds" inside of PT, Myth thinks the clock counting down PT is the same clock! So because my time check is so small (2 seconds and not 10 minutes for example), they never thought of this. Having a "PT Over" action link to the "Netgame time < 2 seconds" makes everything work great. Sigh.

So... Sleepy Hollow Redux v2.0 is now available under Baak's Redux Maps.

The "Siege" game is the one I tweaked. Very fun.

Pssst.... just use a php pagination script (free) to do it for you. Stuff like that comes in handy when trying to save time.

I hear ya - and I've done a few pagination scripts before.

Actually what I want to do is a single view with tabs of some kind along the top for the categories, along with a "What's New" category for new stuff and updates to old stuff. Plugins can be in multiple categories.

It's really just a matter of me having a free afternoon to whip out the necessary design/code - unfortunately, the few free afternoons I've had recently went to finishing up the plugins instead! Doh!

Maybe you should outsource the project.
Lots of Myth stuff at http://mythgraveyard.org.
Sometimes I put hard to find stuff in my my Udogs folder.
