Open the WINXP firewall for Myth 2

Post by Gamer »

Hello,

I had WIN98 for years, but now I have WINxp with a firewall.
I cant host anymore on playmyth.net...

I have already opened the port of my router, but I dont know how to open
the Windows XP firewall!? (I think I had seen a manual to do this on pm.net years ago...)

I hope you could help me!

Are you *certain* that you are not running something like Norton Internet Security Suite or some other application that has a firewall?

So you do have a router?

Are you sure that you are still forwarding port 3453 to the correct internal IP address?

I have an utopia router, which gives all computers in the LAN an IP
adress automatically. I have choosen just my computers name from a list with the other computers in the LAN. But yes, my old PC had a different IP, is it possible that I have to change the IP of my computer?

You need to make sure that the IP that you are doing the Port FOrwarding for matches the IP of your current computer. If it is still pointing to your old computer's IP and that is not the same as the new computer's IP, then that would be your entire problem.

I wish I knew what you guys were talking about. I'd love to be able to host a M2 or A1 game on Mnet sometime but I get so confused by all the IP/firewall/port/router technobabble I just eat an icecream instead.

Actually its easy:

1.) Make an exeption for port 3453 in your WIN XP firewall

2.) Open port 3453 in your internet router. (you have to know the IP of your router in the LAN and write it in your browser and press enter)

in WIN 98 step 1.) is enough!
