myth makes my friends computer

restart. is it over heating or something?

it will lag out in game, usually shortly after pt.

how can it be fixed?

its a beast machine too (on vista tho)

Has your friend tried messing with the prefs of Myth? Then again Vista might be the only problem it has. I suppose you have tried all the stuff Iron mentioned in the other thread you made about this...

If it makes his computer restart, he most likely has a hardware problem. Perhaps opening up the case and clearing the dust out would help.

Otherwise, in Myth II prefs, you can set the maximum frames per second that Myth will run at, which will reduce the load on the CPU and graphics card, and cause the computer overheat less - definitely worth a try.

The rebooting is probably from an overheating CPU or overloaded power supply unit.

Tell him to use Direct3D or Open GL...

he is running in software mode which puts all the strain on the CPU.(I think?)

100% CPU load shouldn't be making the computer reboot. If there is something wrong like an overwhelmed PSU, that needs attending to before something bad happens.

It's also possible some CPU bug is causing the reboots.
