It would help more if it had been updated since April '06, but thanks for the link.

OFMG ;) ;) I didnt belive it till the very end. I guess it may mean something ( or completly nothing :( ) for us - now Bungie for sure has enough founds to (re)buy Myth, but ist there enough ppl in company who remeber it ? Sequel to Oni could be also nice.

So even on the extremely slim chance that Bungie were to buy back the myth rights, why would that even help?

Because if they got the rights back that would mean they plan to make another Myth.

I think the hope of that is for too much wishful thinking. Myth as a series is over, as is marathon. If they do anything related to myth, its more likely to be in the development of a new series, only related in the same kinda way halo was related to marathon. I really cant see them digging up a 10 year old game to make a sequel for us...

Let's hope it's an RTS at least. ;)

What exactly would you be looking for in a sequel to Myth anyway?
A better engine? Another story? More players?

Eww, RTS… best would be a PiD-style game, but RTT comes next. RTS is somewhere down past MMOfoo on the list.

As for what I, at least, would look for in a sequel: more story, richer unit variance, more complex physical simulation, more interesting interactions with the environment, wider variety of objectives, and the renewed public interest a sequel would generate.

The last one's pretty big. I wouldn't be exactly happy, but it'd be a good thing even if they basically made Myth or Myth II again without fundamental gameplay changes—it'd still mean a new product out there bringing people's attention to the game.

I'd settle for them buying the rights to the Myth series, then releasing TFL & M2 as freeware as they did with Marathon.

um, about 10 years old I think, give or take. As there's 3 games its not a clear cut answer ;) But Myth's certainly in the same age range now.

Its very unlikely that Bungie will buy Myth back. I've heard they already tried that a few years ago after the Myth 3 trainwreck, and Take 2 knocked them back. There's no reason why Bungie would try again now, or if they did, why T2 would be any more willing to sell it to them.

Also, like it or not, Bungie will most likely keep producing for the Xbox. After making games for that hardware for so long, thats where all their development expertise will be now.
