hey ren,

thanks for the offer. i'd like to say we could take you up on it, because i really want to get it out the door and finished too, but LoE is really khellek's baby, and i have no idea where he is, how he is or what he's doing since months ago - i can't remember how many. :?

as far as i know most of the mesh cmapping and modelling work is done (though some work may need to be done touching up a few models and a handful of others new). much of the writing is done (probably wants a good few proof reads and revisions). the biggest things that i know of are (ideally) getting some voice acting once the scripts are finalised and, most importantly, the scripting and new units.

khel was in the process of rescripting one level last i heard, but had a fair bit for each level sketched out, at least. khellek was also in charge of the units, and while a lot were done (you see many in recent mazz iterations), iirc there was some work to be done. the specifics of which i don't know. what i do know is the khel was quite precious about how the scripts played out (hence rescripting one level from scratch), so i don't know how much help you guys could offer there.

thanks for the encouragement, and when (if :( ) i see khel next i'll pass them on...

Well then.. My Advice would be that the LOE crew thats still around compile all the parts you each have together, before more people from the project go poof.

hopefully kel wasnt the only one with all the parts.

E mail him again! some of the stuff that i have seen (lots of the Cmaps, in game screenshots) were art of the highest level and shouldnt be lost to the mists of time. cause i will like cry and stuffs ~8^(

BTW who are the other members on the team and who made what?

The models and the COLORMAPS!!! omg the colormaps too damn sexie!

Khellek is notoriously the only person capable of making sense of Khellek's scripts (although with a lot of experience and effort, I'm sure it's not impossible). And as Lank hinted, he's likely to not want other people messing with them. I won't try to discourage you any more than that--hell, anything good is worth a try.

I'd be content just to have an updated beta version released to the public, a la The Great War. A version that includes the mesh for level 5, so I can drool over it all day long.

a-red's pretty much on the money re: khel's scripts - he could make myth do things i don't think bungie ever imagined once the original c/java-like script idea disappeared in tfl's development (due to a coder leaving the crew during development).

the meshes were the combined work of mauglir and myself - he largely did colour mapping, and i did shadow mapping. the models were exclusively maug's work.

I was head fear giuy and amber guy back when the project consisted of solely Khellek, Ozone, and myself.

I ambered almost all of the units save the lich, the draconian, and the lizard warrior guy.

Khellek was all ready and raring to render me some new spell effects for amber and it was going to be awesome, I have damage models of tons of advanced dungeons and dragons spells, per his request, and all I needed (and STILL need) are the spell bitmaps!

I loved ambering for khel and I wish I could get a chance to do some more work on the project

agh! sorry to those whose credit i forgot to mention. :(

life is crazy and hazy and i forget about things i shouldn't. when ooga and ozone were working on it, i'd pretty much fallen out of LoE due to time and life constraints, and large swathes of those times are hazier in memory than i'd like.

i'd love to see LoE get finished. much as i'd like to resume working on it, i don't know what i can promise towards what needs to be done that's in my present skill set or time to devote. admittedly, the year is nearly finished at university, so i'll see how things look on the far side of exams (two weeks!).

i might even poke khel's old email address, in case that's still alive, and hope for the best...

Because of Mazz Khel actually went back to work on the units already done to improve their quality, which involved a whole lot of re-rendering.
I think the whole Mazz thing really knocked allot of the steam out of Khel's charge in the end :?
