OSX 10.5 10.4 9 Windows Vista xp ....
are there any differences between the fear and loathing and the upcoming oak or whatever the tool will be for the new textures.... are all supported and working the same?
will 1.7 add new fear flags etc.? just trying to figure out a path to the future.

follow up...
anyone know if sheepshaver works on 10.5 it has worked great on 10.4 and i was told it wouldnt work with osx 10.5
(sheepshaver allows os 9 and amber to run on osx 10.4)

I believe SheepShaver should work fine on Leopard.
As for the tools, Fear and Loathing will remain mostly unchanged for 1.7 (maybe a couple checkboxes added for new features, but not much), and Oak is a completely new tool, that will be used to open meshes and apply detailed textures to them.
If there are problems with these tools running on new OSes, we will address them.

ok...
ok glad sheep works on leopard.... My work software should be leopard compatible soon and i was thinking of upgrading when boot camp expires...
as for oak... though most of us have ways around using amber via sheep shaver etc... will there be a new amber like pc and osx capability as well or was that abandoned....?

Depends what you use it for.
BootCamp is free, but you have to reboot.
Parallels and VMWare are about the same, so look at their feature sets and benchmarks to see which one you like most. I went for VMWare (got it for half price pre-ordered before release).
Code Weavers probably will give you problems for anything but the most popular apps, which they test. Although, you don't need a Windows license for it, since it's not actually running Windows (the others need Windows).

I bought osx 10.5 thinking my work software would work by now on it though looks like I should switch from 10.4 just yet and I was told boot camp expires on 10.4 soon maybe its just boot camp support anyway
hows VMWare working for you? they had it on sale for 39.99 vs parrallells at 79.99
I would use it probably for poser, some music programs, dvd editing programs basically things I only have for the pc and possibly some pc games like operation flashpoint if I ever get the time to play that again.

Well Doobs then maybe someone will just admit that Oak, as an Amber replacement is dead and all Oak can do is work with map items instead of sprites, sprite animation being the thing everyone was looking forward to.Doobie wrote:if oak is dead can you explain why our team is using it in preperation for the release of 1.7? I guess you must know something we don't...
