I have my fingers crossed that this becomes a reality - since I really have no way of making it happen.

So you did contact CIK? Let us know how that plays out.

It was late 2005 or early 2006, yeah. Cid and I wanted to use some of the models in connection with a plug-in we never finished.
CIK was considering handing them out, but only if we had serious and established plans for what we were going to do with them. The project fell to bits shortly afterwards... hehe.

I'm just trying to find the old e-mails at the moment. I'd like to have another bash at getting these tings.
Okay I got the models but now I'm too dumb to do anything with 'em

I don't think a petition would help, per se, but if you guys could express any interest (and possible uses) you have for the models, maybe that might add weight to the idea of them accidentally leaking. Or whatever?
And maybe I can forward that along...

on a somewhat humorous note, while looking for CIK contact info I stumbled over an old conversation from March of 2004, where someone asked whether the developers were going to make a "Myth IV". CIK responded that if they did it wouldn't be CALLED Myth IV because of the legal issues (amongst other issues), and then Horus laid claim to The Fallen's Vengeance deserving the title Myth IV since it is a continuation of the Myth story.

2 0 0 4 ! ! !

Somethings never change?

ps. This isn't meant to poke fun at Horus or anyone else working on a project which might or might not be code-named Myth 4, the source of the humor to me is that we have had almost the exact same conversation FOUR YEARS LATER.

The myth 2 power animator models are no longer in the hands of anybody due to hard drive crashes missplaced discs, OR the people who still have them like to be in control of things and dont want to give up that control by giving them to evreybody else.

Its one or the other.

ive talked with CIK before and he seemed to really just want to control all things myth related for some reason. Feeling only HE had the right to do certain things.

if the models exist they need to be released PERIOD.

"Ooo ill only give them to you if i think your worthy" = CIK control monger

I think he left myth though just over a year ago, it might be hard to get ahold of him or change his mind even if you do contact him.

Other then the control thing he seemed to do good work and know his stuff.

I really don't think you can make that claim, people don't have to do anything, maybe it would be nice if they did, but this isn't going to help...

Ren, not in this thread. thx.

Well.... I guess I can e-mail CIK again and ask if there's *aaaaaaany* way I can convince him to leak the things. Not much will have changed in 3 years but maybe his fear of Take 2 might have dwindled a bit??

As a purely HYPOTHETICAL exercise...Another option that might allay any concerns anyone has about being identified as the distributer of original game resources would be to set up an anonymous upload folder somewhere that anyone could upload to.

Then publicize HERE, on mariusnet, etc (and in private email) that you are looking for any original Myth 2 unit models or other game resources for some future Myth II projects. Publicize the upload URL and the pw (if needed) and make sure everyone knows it's anonymous and private.

Then if resources appear in the folder, the source will remain unknown. That might help provide 'cover' for anyone concerned about the legality of distributing them.

Just a hypothetical thought.

Good call.

Actually, if it's anonymity he's worried about; maybe I should go and edit any mention of his name from my posts?
Hmmmm....

Anyway, I'll see if his address is still current.

oh god not again Ren can there be one thread conversation where you dont shove your foot in your mouth take some courses in communication skills and maybe research tact and decorum :) I haven't posted in a while and have held my type but it just blows me away how would anyone think you were "worthy" with the track record you keep building. Chill man and try looking at things form a new perspective... or at the very lest keep the irritants to yourself. Peace out...

I mean...I don't want to be unreasonable on this one or anything...

but I agree with Renwood... on a few counts anyway. Certain parties have been "control mongers" in the past. Just sort of something to keep in mind...

Even granting that this assessment is fairly accurate (I don't have enough personal data to make this judgement, and this remark is NOT a request to air past dirty laundry/evidence in public or private), don't you think general common sense would indicate that it's generally not such a great idea to insult or badmouth or describe someone uncharitably in public just before asking them a favor?

Back then, Myth II wasn't widely downloaded within the community (and discussed). Now, like it or not, a lot of people get the game by illegal means and we haven't got in trouble for it. That might change things.

That argument only works IF people don't care about the legality. IF the reason someone didn't share copyrighted materials they don't own is because they were concerned with the legal issues (or just didn't want to break the law), then they aren't likely going to care very much whether OTHER people are breaking the law by stealing other things or not. That argument can be paraphrased as "Hey I know you didn't want to give me those files a couple of years ago because it was illegal and stuff, but like I thought maybe since nowadays a lot of people are stealing OTHER myth related copyrighted material, you might change your mind..."

Just my opinion of course.

Point pay closer attetntion before posting please, I wasnt referring to myself being "worthy" this is what CIK told the last person who asked for the models having known that CIK had them. He was juding if their project was worthy enough to be granted the models he is said to of had.

Point you only show your own flaws by suggesting that ALL FANS OF MYTH arent allready "worthy" to have said things if they ask for them.

the fact sombody asked him for them and he was like "I dunno if your project deserves or warrents them" is in and of itself a bit controlling and ego filled.

I based what i said on having spoken with CIK myself over a year ago.

He got a ahold of me trying to tell me only certain people were allowed to do large changes to myth related things, trying to say only he and mb a few others had any agreement with t2.

then i told him those agreements had allready expired and that nobody had anymore right then anybody else.

I then told him he was welcome to join us, to wich he replied "Aww well im leaving myth anyways, i just wanted to make sure you werent trying to control evreything."

He said it was the memories of past battles with the likes of blades that made him wary, and was happy to see he would be included if he wanted to be.

CIK seemed like an ok guy to me after having spoken with him a few times.
