You have done great. Like I also play Freespace 2 which is also pimped up with the opensource project. Myth and Freespace, two giants in the PC game era, still outclassing modern PC games. ( in my modest opinion).

Chapeau...gentlemen.

Do you know why "enter" only deselects units some of the time? I noticed it during the match today, I tried to deselect all my units and it didnt do anything. However, at a later time it worked.

I went into a map and tested it and it was very strange. When I was looking at my units from a certain camera angle, deselecting worked...at a different angle, it didn't. I thought that maybe it had to do with something about having unselected characters in the view (since the camera angle change might bring new units into the screen), but that's not the case. Hitting enter multiple times did nothing, even when all the units on the screen were selected.

Pretty frustrating since I use that a lot!! :(

The tilde (~) key is for deselecting. The Enter key is for selecting, but you can use it to deselect. Only units on your screen can be selected. Are you sure you aren't confusing the CapsLock highlighting of your units with Enter or Tilde?

No, the enter select/deselect thing is a known bug. I believe it's related to this: http://tain.totalcodex.net/forum/viewto ... f=4&t=4234

I'm pretty sure his explanation clearly explains otherwise.

I did some more testing, if I make a group of units go to a location and move my camera to that place... and press Enter a lot. It selects units within view. It deselects them if pressed again. If an unselected unit enters the viewable area instead of deselecting the selected units it keeps the selected and adds the unselected with the selected. Perhaps you are seeing this and think it isn't working?

Pyro, it really is a bug. Take a look at the link I posted. See the little bit of scenery circled in red? Try starting a game on gimble and take your units to that spot and make sure the bit of scenery is visible. Then try deselecting with enter. It will refuse to deselect.

EDIT: Actually, I think it's not having the scenery onscreen, but the ambient life. There are birds flying around on gimble and I believe it's trying to select them when they are onscreen.

Doh! You beat me to the punch. I came here after some testing to say the same thing! :D It has nothing to do with media at all. After running some tests I concluded that it is ambient life that causes the issue. Not team -1 units, but units marked as Ambient Life in their monster tag's Class. So if you modify say your Warriors from Melee to Ambient Life, and tried to use Enter while they are on screen... same issue of not deselecting.

that would potentially explain it. it seems to be a new bug because i used enter for selecting and deselecting all the time prior to 1.7. it has nothing to do with new units walking on the screen. I did it with all kinds of different unit sets and i made SURE that every unit on the screen was selected, and it still wouldn't deselect. If it were trying to include ambient life, then that would explain everything.

very irritating imo.

Then you weren't trying it when there were ambient units around, or you are not remembering correctly. Load Myth II v1.3 (if you can) and you can see for yourself it happens there.

1) Rename your plugins folder and make sure you local folder doesn't have junk other than formations and stuff.
2) Make a new folder and call it "plugins".
3) Copy the "Patch 1.2", "Patch 1.3", and "Patch MariusNet" plugins into the new plugins folder.
4) Load your Myth 2 CD or mount a virtual version of it.
5) Copy the "Myth II.exe" file from your Myth 2 CD onto your computer.
6) Rename it to something like "Myth II 1.3.0.exe", so it doesn't override your latest version and place it in your Myth II folder.
7) Load it and test for stuff you think might be new like this enter deselect ambient issue.

When done, close Myth and rename the new plugins folder or delete it. Then rename the old plugins folder back to "plugins". Eject the Myth II CD and put it away. After that have a little more faith in Pyro from then on.

I don't know about the Mac version, but for the PC version of Myth you can't just copy the Myth II executable. You may need to install it to like another folder just to get the EXE file. Maybe even find the old 1.3 update.

From Monty at MWC forums in my 1.7 thread:
i got a really cool white screen last night when playing. never seen that before.

if i hovered mouse over where units were I guess you could see the blue outline and their health bar, and the minimap was fine as was chat, but everything else was white.

the last week i alt tabbed and when i came back in and rotated the camera alive zerk unit models would turn intead dead burned zerk models standing up and back and forth randomly. it wasn't all the zerks either, just a couple at a time. really weird.
