Could future patch force m2 to use higher quality sounds?

Post by Tireces »

Right now m2 sound arent bad but hmmm lets say that when I am trying to implement some music - there is a huge quality loss.
Hmmmm its probably impossible - after increasing quality there would be probably a need to recreate all already existing original myth sounds. Or not ?

i am not a myth sound expert, but all the docs I have say that the sound in Myth is reasonably high sample rate (tho not as high as CD or higher end audio) but it's compressed in a 4:1 format which normally fubars up the sound. once sound has been compressed that much it's not going to ever be quite (or even near) the same quality as the original.

Supporting a compressed format like mp3 or ogg has been suggested for 1.8. Of course, I can't comment on the probability of said feature actually making it in ;)

Ogg is so much better than archaic Mp3.
