Myth Crashes first couple loads

Post by Doyee5 »

When I enter a game, the first 0-5 times I begin to load the game with the progessive blue bar. My myth crashes to the desktop, then when i log back in it says this account is currently in use for a couple minutes. I can post that one file if needed, forget what it is called.

You mean your "myth_log"? Sure post it. Also does this always happen or did it start recently? What build of Myth do you use? (Modern, Classic, PPC, MacOSX) What are your specs? What graphics card do you have? Are you graphics card drivers up to date? What OS do you use? Is your local folder empty? If not, what is in it? Do you have other issues with your internet connection?

It started happening when i got 1.7. I use classic. My internet connection should be okay.

My local folder has a file called myth2 (type = file) thats 0kb and a folder called formations with a file called internal formations.

I use windows xp.

its never happened before so i dunno if its related to specs or graphics card.

below is the file.

Why do you use 1.7 classic instead of modern? Does modern give you issues? If so, what are they? Try renaming your local folder and run Myth. I'm wondering if Myth has something against your custom formations. If the same problem remains, you can delete the newer local folder and rename the old one back to "local".

I created a new local file, it seemed to work for awhile now it's doing it again. I was never able to get modern to work, I forget why.

Here is my myth log right after the crash.

So with a new local file, it wasn't crashing for a while? How long? Check your plugins folder and see if you find a "internal formations" file. If you do delete it since it isn't meant to be used as a plugin. Try 1.7 modern, and let us know what issues it might give you. Perhaps they can be looked at for the upcoming 1.7.1 update. I wonder if you have some sort of connection issue. It is possible. What kind of connection do you have? Right click Properties on "My Computer" and tell us if XP is updated. By updated I mean do you see "Service Pack" and a number next to that?

Do you know if you were using OpenGL with 1.6 (before you updated)?

It's possible you were using Direct3D before - but 1.7 defaulted to OpenGL. In which case, it is also possible that OpenGL in 1.6 didn't work on your configuration either. Have you tried switching to Direct3D on 1.7?

While OpenGL is the recommended setting for Myth II 1.7, it is possible that it doesn't work as well as Direct3D on older graphics chipsets such as the one you're using.
