ooga, i don't have any interest in arguing with you, up until your doushy responses to me in this thread I've gotten along with you reasonably well and I had a fair amount of respect for your past projects.
I am sure since my post is longer than a tweet you haven't read this far, but I do wish you luck in your attempts to sell the idea of a real Myth 4 to TakeTwo. For a number of what I think are well-founded reasons, I think that plan is pure folly, but at many different times during your development I really doubted Team TWindA would ever release anything substantial but when you guys released your multiplayer demo I was quite happy to be wrong and admit it publicly, and I'd be first in line to buy a new official professionally developerd Myth 4 (as long as it would run on my machine).

fraid not, I don't really have any interest in reading the same silly flame posts from the other thread
So you're going to say something snarky like ::rolls eyes:: - but you can't be bothered to explain why because that would be beneath you. Right.
He did explain to a degree. He is mearly annoyed at where the thread's direction was going with the few posts before his. In his opinion those posts are the "same silly flame posts from the other thread".
EDIT: Also if others are wondering about the old Wind Age related thread being mentioned, it is this one. I read VR's first posts in that long dead thread but he doesn't sound to be against the project, just the name "Myth 4". Then again it is a long thread so maybe what ooga is referring to is somewhere there.
It's possible I said something I don't remember, but I think my negative comments about TWindA were about the NAME of the project and then later what I thought was the unlikelihood of TWindA ever actually being released - but not against the project - I am always enthusiastic about someone making a new solo/coop total conversion for Myth II.
So I was hoping against hope that the dev team would finish TWindA so it didn't become just another much-hyped vaporware project (daimyo? tron? Day of the Ghol? Bones of Ferros? ) I was hoping it would get released and that it would be half as good as it's 'press' - and I am happy to say my impression was wrong, a TWindA prototype/demo DID get released and visually it definitely lives up to Ren's claims, it's got some really gorgeous units / explosions/ scenery.
Thanks for the kind words VR!
and remember the goal is to streamline the texture code with video card drivers AND add or streamline some code within the myth 2 engine to help it all run smoother as well.
none of the negative posts are worth taking the time to post about on the forums by any of us.
its time that could be spent making myth stuff. Playtesting the Public beta 2 or at least playing myth heh

It wasn't even directed at you, not sure why it bothers you so much... I'll PM you the reason I suppose

I suggest you turn off detail textures on boil - it's one of the most DTEX-intensive maps in the whole set. The lava attack is actually one of the lowest-res effects being used
Turned of DTex while playing but with no visible difference, however I haven't run the plug under similar conditions since I changed prefs (cache, resolution etc) and not under pb2 or the 2nd release of the demo either. If the patched demo and/or the public beta mostly resolves FPS issues on PC's that aren't ancient then this can be ignored.
On a related note, i've got a few of the Bones of Feros units entrusted to me by gimpmask and spline when I beta'd for them - they said I could release what was there - at the moment its a couple units (good ones though) and a smallish arena multiplayer map. I didnt want to release it because some of the units lacked unique body parts, and I had been continually trying to contact gimp or spline for the remaining few units (which would have balanced it out enough for the multiplayer map) and the one or two solo maps they had been working on. I never got the rest of it, so i'm thinking I might as well release the resources. It's kind of late in the game, but no sense in these cool units going to waste. I was afraid I wouldn't do them justice with what little I have, but that's kind of a moot point so long after the fact.
wow ooga i thought bones of feros was lost forever. i'd love to see what you have. for anyone not familiar with the Bones of Feros project, here's what I was able to salvage from their long dead website.
Thats great news Jest - are the frames youre getting alright on the wind age? Or were you commenting on the normal myth experience?
Since installing the Myth II 1.7.1 Public Beta 2, my frame rates have improved significantly in both classic Myth and the new Myth 4 TWA HD Multiplayer Demo, my self-confidance has increased and I lost 30 lbs!
