High Res unit solution thread--- lets fix it
High Res unit solution thread--- lets fix it
Lets start trying to figure out what exactly the problem is and narrow it down. Who exactly is having problems? What type of system? I know I probably could read threw those "other" threads but uhhh that doesnt seem that much fun.
do it.

Benchmarking with TWindA HD Demo, or Greek Multi Beta 1:
2008 Macbook Pro (Pre-Unibody Shell) 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB DDR2 Ram
256mb GeForce 8600
Render Cache set at 160MB
VSync On
Landscape Textures On
With a full force of units on screen walking around or performing attacks I generally get 2-6 FPS for about 20 or 30 seconds while myth caches the sprites, at which point FPS picks up to a 45-60 range on land. At any point before and after caching sprites, where I have any reasonable number of units on screen in addition to any media on screen, my FPS drops dramatically back to unplayable 5-10 FPS range.
Edit: For the record, based on how large and detailed the graphics we're dealing with are (say in comparison to my own 'high res' units in The Fallen's Vengeance, which arent nearly as high res as these) I find this to be a perfectly acceptable and playable FPS range.

Re: High Res unit solution thread--- lets fix it
If anybody wants to call Nvidia go for it. I can see older computers having a problem, but these modern and or semi modern Nvidia cards with problems running the larger sprites, SHOULD have the sheer horsepower to handel them smoothly, or at least for the most part.
Nvidia in the past flaunted how well their cards ran myth 2 (TNT Series) maybe they would care and look into a driver fix. or maybe not....heh worth a try

same as graydon, graphic card is a 8800GS
Perhaps it's the 8000-9000 line which are basically the same ?

Re: High Res unit solution thread--- lets fix it
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 processor 3000+
2Ghz 512 mb ram
XP pro
Radeon 9200 series
I get about 25 fps on the multidemo, down to 5-6 when I move the camera, so unplayable for me. Being as its not coop, it doesn't really matter, and I like how the reg myth units look just fine.
Admittedly, my computer sucks, but I can run other games that are much more visually stunning so I am surprised my comp wont run it (other then the fact myth wasn't designed for this).

And Carlinhos greek plugin. And carlinhos ww2 plugin. And another project I cant talk about. And anyone else who decides to make things look not-shitty like normal m2 sprites.why should anyone else call? ITS YOUR PLUG we are talking about....
How do you manage to work yourself up to such a towering hissy fit when nothing negative was said by ren? I dont understand. That's some talent.I swear... the more you talk the more I regret getting involved...good thing is if I get to a certain point Ill toss your plug in the trash faster then you can eat a peach

Oogs: stfu this thread is about specs and fixing a problem. Argue in PMs.
I actually happen to have a while range of macs I can test this on (g4 Powerbook, g5 imac, Core Duo imac, Core 2 Duo imac). Maybe I will get my shit together and post some specs this weekend.

Re: High Res unit solution thread--- lets fix it
I'd like to test those plugins again to see if they lag online with tweaked memory cache...
Re: High Res unit solution thread--- lets fix it
i'd like to do some multiplayer testing to see how much the new public release version 2 improves the FPS.
post if you know ahead of time when you'll be testing.

Re: High Res unit solution thread--- lets fix it
when exactly is it lagging? All the time? small battles? Large battles? Near water? Which plug lags worse? Greek plug or Twinda... ?
do it.
