The AWESOMENESS Of Detail Textures Thread

Post by GodzFire »

This post is dedicated to showing just how much Detail Textures can improve a map. Feel free to post your work here. Please try to include a non-DTex screenshot as well for comparison.

I'll start off with a collection of Detail Textures from the Myth 3 Port WIP created by Jon God, via this slideshow. I think my favorite has to be number 8 from The Pack Mage. I don't think I've ever seen more realistic water and shore line.

The pics are also available in a zip file. The best way to view them is opening them up in either Win's Image Viewer or OSX's Preview, and use the left and right arrows to compare the meshes fullscreen. They are stunning.

If you are posting DTex Pictures, it would be nice if you could have a comparison shot with DTexs off as well.

I didn't actually direct that to JG, just in general. I should add that to the first post.

Maybe I'm just stupid, but those first pictures look like m3 levels, so maybe you should compare them with the original m3 as well?

Actually, they all look like m3 levels, but it's still cool.

Those Chimera detail textures are cool, where can I get them?

Not stupid, just needing to take more time to read. I said those were from a Myth 3 for Myth 2 Port WIP. And you can't compare them since M2 and M3 use to different ground texture format.
