Proving Grounds
I swear I traded and just before time ran out on PT I saw -1 trading points and then the trade never happened.

I saved the film.
Oh, I'm on OSX, 1.7.1

The film does not record your trade selection so that wouldn't help. However, I was able to reproduce the bug. Interesting find. Turns out this bug has always been there, or at least since Bungie's last update for Myth2. I'll relay my findings to the devs so they can look into it.

You mean I stumbled upon a bug the "Bug Finder Extraordinaire" didn't?
