Solo Endgame Name Gets Cut Off

Post by GodzFire »

Not sure exactly why it's doing this, but check out the name of the map below:

See how it ....'s the difficulty? At first I thought that it was simply the dialog tag for the postgame solo screen. I went in there and assumed that the 'right' control bound was just not far enough over. Unfortunately that didn't seem to solve it.

I'm looking with Oak in the Internal Solo Postgame string list, trying to figure out which item is the title. I believe it to be one of these:
%s |i(%s)|p
%.1f%%
|i%s|p
%d
%d/%d

Looks like its a bug in the game code. I'll fix it for 1.7.2.

Myrd, since you'd be looking at the postgame graph, I was wondering if was also possible to do the following:

See how it cuts off larger units names too? Could we maybe move the end of the graph more to the right? That way Unit/Name/Unit would have enough room for long names.

Then you wouldn't see the background.

By that logic, doesn't it mean we can't see the background now?

You can see like 40% of it.

Some people made backgrounds based on how much you could see of it. It would suck for them to now be covered up.

I think that's a poor argument when you go examine every single one of bungie's win/loss arts from both games. They're all full pictures. Parts of them have always been covered up. Changing the 40% of area that isnt covered to be in a different place, really isn't going to alter the background in any significant way.

if the current display is 40% of the screen size and you are moving the stats over in order to display *more* of the unit names, obviously the % of screen covered is going to increase.

if you weren't increasing the size of part of the display and you were just moving the portions of the existing display around you wouldn't see any more of the unit names so there'd be no point in moving things around unless you just didn't like the esthetics of the current display.

or am i missing something?

No, I suppose I overlooked that entirely, you're absolutely correct. All said and done though, I still feel my statement stands true. Looking at Bungie postgame art, the pictures arent drawn in any particular 'shape' to maximize on unobstructed area. As long as the postgame image and stat text colours contrast nicely, there should never be any trouble discerning what the image is.

I'm curious if you can name any plugs as examples JG?

Not that I can remember offhand. Though, I figure if someone did port Myth 3 to Myth 2, the win/loss screen's text would not work.
