Myth II Partial full-screen bug

Post by monthey »

Hey guys,

After being a lurker for a couple of months, I decided to install me old Myth games again :D.

Currently, I'm having a problem with my current Myth II game. When I play the first time, the game doesn't have a problem running in full screen. But when ever I play the second level, or reload a game it refuses to do so and only shows the game in 1/4th on left top corner of my screen. The rest of my screen stays black! :?:

Only after quitting the game and running it a second time, does the full screen work, but then it starts all over again when playing a new level :?

Sure appreciate the help :(

Can you post your myth_log.txt file from your Myth folder?

What is the resolution of your screen? I assume you're choosing 1280x800 in the myth preferences?

Can you check if the problem also exists in Myth II 1.7.2 beta?

Hi Myrd

I've installed the 1.7.2 beta like you said and because the brief text provided mentioned the possible bug I'm struggleing with: * Vista+: Fixed fullscreen/windowed toggle.

And it still didn't work... for a moment there I thought it did but after a few minutes playing the problem started coming back again :(

What graphics card are you using? Have you tried updating your drivers to the latest version?

Myrd, I'm getting a similar bug on my new macbook pro. If I run it at the pro's native res of 1680x1050 i think it is (posting this from work) everything works fine, no problems like Monthely is having, however if I try running it at say the old macbook pro native res of 1440x900, it launches a 1440x900 screen inside the resolution area of 1680x1050... resulting in the black borders along the right and bottom edges like Monthely's pic shows. Not sure what changed or when it changed, but from what I recall, if you're not using windowed mode, and you pick a lower than native res, myth should change your res settings as you launch the map. I asked Melekor to test this out the other day on his PC and he says the resolution resizes as expected. All of the above performed in 1.7.2 beta of course.

Launch Myth while holding option and check "Switch resolutions" checkbox. But that's not the same issue Monthely is having.

Can you..

-Make sure your graphics drivers are updated
-Post your graphics card info & screen resolution
-Post your myth_log from 1.7.2 after the problem occurs
-Try running myth in "windowed" mode at your desktop resolution, and at a smaller resolution
-Try running myth in fullscreen mode at your desktop resolution, and at a smaller resolution
-Try toggling windowed/fullscreen (alt+f11) when not running @ desktop resolution.
-Try the software renderer (also try DX11 if it's available)

See if the problem happens in all of these cases or just come of them, if there is a pattern we might be able to narrow a cause, or at least you might find one combination that reliably works.

Ok, this is the situation:

- I'm still having the problem with the back edges on my screen when playing Myth II. However, when running Myth TFL I don't have the same problem and the screen just stays fine.

- After installing the 1.7.2 Beta the black edges on my screen occure only after 3-4 levels/saved game loads. Though it's an improvement but not the complete solution to the problem.

- And my specs are : 1.66 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, Windows Vista Home Premium, 2GB memory, 160GB storage, Intel GMA X3100 384MB shared graphics

And there is something wrong with the logs, It doesn't state that I've been running on 1.7.2 gameplay:

I hope you guys can make something out of this and I really appreciate your help with this.

That log and the one you posted earlier are the same, check out their dates. This is not your latest log. Windows Vista and 7 have a feature called virtual store where any files created by a program inside certain folders like Program Files will be moved into a different place. Go to your Myth II folder and look for a button on the window called Compatibility Files as shown in that image. Click it and it will take you to the virtual store of that folder you are on. There you will find things like your actual myth log and preference files. If you do find this place, go back to the real folder and delete your pref files inside the preference folder and the myth log. This way Myth doesn't try to deal with two sets of preferences nor myth logs.

Thanx for the headsup... strange thing is that this log still says I'm using 1.71 while I installed 1.7.2 Beta :?

Hmm.... non of the above seem to work :(

This is starting to get tedious :(
