Thanx for the headsup... strange thing is that this log still says I'm using 1.71 while I installed 1.7.2 Beta
Not to be pedantic, but you're sure that you installed the 1.7.1 patch, then downloaded the 1.7.2 public beta and put that file in the Myth folder. Then you need to run that EXE instead of the original Myth shortcut to be running the 1.7.2 public beta. Make sure it "1.7.2 ..." says that at the top left on the main menu screen when you launch the game.
Also as Myrd mentioned, go to Intel's site and get the latest drivers for your video card. Old drivers often cause weird problems. First step when debugging issues is to update to the latest drivers.
No, you don't sound pedantic as I appreciate the help in every form or another.
But I already upgraded my drivers as I have mentioned in my post before and the public beta is up and running as you can see on the top left.

But I noticed something, as I Prt Scr'nd the opening menu it seemed much more full screen than in real life. In other words, it seems that I get the game in window rather than full width and all.

Is this supposed to happen...?
So you're saying even the menu is cut-off or in a portion of the screen when you run Myth in full-screen mode?
It sounds like something is going wrong with the mode switch. i.e. Myth is trying to change your screen resolution to X but for whatever reason it's not working correctly, but Myth thinks it has and thus renders the smaller size. Thus when you take a screen shot you're seeing the proper small Myth rendering, but something is going wrong between that and presenting it full-screen on the device.
So you're saying that even when you set Myth to the same resolution as your desktop this still happens? Even when you set it to that *and* set the mode to "windowed"? Cause in that case there's no mode switch so it shouldn't have this problem...
It might be worth noting that 1.7.1 has 2 modes: fullscreen and windowed. The 1.7.2 windows update however has 3 modes: fullscreen, automatic, and windowed. The 1.7.2's automatic is like 1.7.1's windowed. Now that you can load view the real log, try running games in 1.7.2 until the issue happens and then quit. Then you should have a log of it under 1.7.2. Each time you load Myth, it will overwrite the old log, which might be why you don't see one for 1.7.2.
I have the switch resolutions button ticked of course. That's the first thing Melekor suggested checking too. Still doesn't work right. Try this on yours?
-Make sure your graphics drivers are updated
-Post your graphics card info & screen resolution
-Post your myth_log from 1.7.2 after the problem occurs
-Try running myth in "windowed" mode at your desktop resolution, and at a smaller resolution
-Try running myth in fullscreen mode at your desktop resolution, and at a smaller resolution
-Try toggling windowed/fullscreen (alt+f11) when not running @ desktop resolution.
-Try the software renderer (also try DX11 if it's available)
See if the problem happens in all of these cases or just come of them, if there is a pattern we might be able to narrow a cause, or at least you might find one combination that reliably works.
Hmm.... non of the above seem to work :(
This is starting to get tedious :(
Can you be more specific - did you actually try all of these? So the game is getting cut off even in software mode, and even when the game runs in a window (i.e. not fullscreen)?
Also, people have mentioned it many times but you haven't confirmed that you've updated your drivers. Can you confirm that so we can check it off the list?
I would still like to see a copy of the 1.7.2 log. Delete your old 1.7.1 log and then see where the new one appears. If you have UAC on and you have the game installed in "Program Files", it may be written to a special location called "compatibility files" - something like this - http://www.thetournamentdirector.net/25 ... Does your monitor actually support 1440x900 (e.g. is it an option in System Preferences)?

Actually it appears not. I have a 1440x852 and 1440x852(stretched) option in system prefs, however, my options in myth prefs include 1440x900/960/1024. Why would these options even be available to me if my monitor can't support them in its system prefs?
