Post by killerking »

Hey all,

Do we have a contact over at macgamefiles.com?http://www.insidemacgames.com/news/story.php?ID=19714
I hope this means we'll have a larger community in the near future ;) !

Thanks to whoever made that post possible.

Well I was the one who passed along the news to IMG since I'm friends with Tuncer Deniz (ex Bungie staff who produced M1/M2) and Randall Shaw (better know as Frigidman who created The Mill and The Wild West plug).

hey if you are friends with Randall, (re)plant the bug in his ear about sharing backups of the mill CONTENT (reviews/descriptions/etc) for archival/educational mirroring purposes. i've asked a couple of times over the years but with no luck so far.

Oh trust me, that was one of the first leads I looked to. Unfortunately he no longer has any backups of the user contributed content. All he has left is the base design elements and server file-stuff.

At this point, according to all the info I have found, the only possible person remaining who has a backup of the post B.Org is Clem.

And they definitely were not snapped in half. That picture is years old now though, that happened within 2 years of The Mill going down. The picture was "proof" that he had The Mill files, and his stance was he saw no reason to share them. They were two burned CDRs with hand written label, there's the chance it could've been complete bull from the start.

Oh....and how about this nice topper: http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx ... &cid=31016

Big thanks to Ferrex (Tyson Green) for that. Also, I just HAD to include this hilarious convo between him and Eric Osborne, Bungie's web news guy:

Tyson: "Hey Eric, can you use this?" (the press release)

Eric: "Of course. Hope their bandwidth bill is all paid up. ;-)"

Tyson: "Heh, like Eric says, hope you're ready for the firehose. :-)"

i thought they were DVDs, i don't think the mill archives of all the plugins, maps, films, articles and everything else would have fit on 2 CDs.

They were 2 DVDs. I'm sure someone has a picture of it.

The point is they weren't snapped in half, and they were never shown mounted on a computer screen proving the files were indeed on the disks. I always sort of thought Clem made that photo as a practical joke (that only his kind finds funny).

i actually found the furor that the photos elicited fairly amusing - because, a) as you said, no one other than Clem knew if the DVDs really contained the Mill or not. and b) people seemed to feel that Clem "owed" them something and i found the self-righteous indignation kind of amusing. (that said, I DO wish the mill assets had been shared when the site went down for good)

when i read this thread last night i was tempted to take a picture of a floppy disk and write on it with Sharpie "OMG Mill Archives!!!" and post the photo here, but I was too lazy.

That's clearly a fake Cap. Everyone knows that Zips were outdated by 2000.

By the way, OM went a little nuts with the news post of Public Beta 2 :-P
