Your help is my command

Post by capital »

Dear Sirs and Mademoiselles:

There was a TC that had a ninja or something or sneak in and assassinate something, you installed over the installation of Myth II. I think it was a precursor to Bushido, but I think the author was actually someone else.

Anyone have information on whether this TC is the same or different from Bushido, and whether it was ever shoe-horned into a plugin, a la Jinn.

Your attention in this matter is greatly required.

Cap,

Sorry, I do not understand your question, specify or provide an example.

that was a plugin called assasin, it was in the myth total codex cd, the author was called daimyo i believe, somehow couldn't find the original in the tain, but this link says it's similar:

http://tain.totalcodex.net/items/show/assassin

the original was a single map, (or this is the original? not sure)

It wasn't related to bushido, bushido came years later. sounds like the map you are thinking of was "Assassin" and was the only map that was ever released related to an earlier grand feudal japan total-conversion that never came to be called 'Daimyo".

It's a regular single level Myth II solo map/plugin

Alrighty, then. I think we're all talking bout the same thing then. "Assassin"

So, here:

Well so does anyone know what exactly was the difference in the units from Assassin than from Bushido?

Not so humbly submitted,

mb you could try playing them and see for yourself.

in a nutshell? the units are completely different - Assassin is just one level so it just has the Assassin unit, the evil baron-like unit and 2-3 different kinds of guards/warriors(at least one melee and one missle unit if i remember correctly), and Bushido is a multi-level total conversion so it has a whole buttload of different units.

seriously though, if you want to know something that's easy to find out - why not spend a couple of minutes and look for the information yourself before you ask?

Well I was hoping someone knew if the unit sprites were the same and if the similar units are actually derived from what came first.

Also. I no longer have myth 2 installed and is not accessible so I can't make much a brick w.o. straw then, eh

Carl if you know more, I am all ears.

well, the bushido units are easy to preview in the bag of tags site:

http://www.freewebs.com/soulblaster/3rd ... rriors.htm

just scroll there and you'll see the warriors, and if you go to the archers, throwers, etc there's many more from bushido too, etc

the assassin! plug somehow I don't know where there might be pics of the units.
and then there's this Sengoku plug I've never played...

The Bushido units were made by Cydonian, and featured not only the standard samurai flavours but also mythical and magical beasties. There was a bunch of new scenery for Bushido, no new models though that I'm aware of as it pre-dated the release of Apathy.

Assassin had no magical units, and had bullet-shooting soldiers combined with kimono-clad (IIRC) samurai as distinct from those in Bushido which were armoured like Tom Cruise in the last samurai. Assassin did introduce at least one new model, the spectacular temple, and perhaps other models from the level were new as well. It was a beautiful piece of work, though a pity that much of the city & gardens were wedged into a corner of the map where you could barely see them.

Gameplay wise, meh, single unit sneak & kill, limits to how good that can be, but it was pretty tense & well scripted. Pity the full plugin was canned, it was amazing considering how early in Myth II's history it was developed.

Carl. I don't think I *punished* capital at all, i merely suggested he do a bit of research because 30 seconds on mything.org and he could have found both the Bushido unit lineup I enclosed the link for, and the original Bushido official documentation with lots more pictures.

and for what it's worth, i was actually trying to be helpful; i provided a picture of the Bushido units for reference, and I *thought* i answered the question that the units in the two plugs were completely different and made by different people but maybe i wasn't clear enough.

guess it's a good thing i am not in the customer service biz.
