Game Controls
So in search of trying to disable windows hotkey for locking my computer while in the game (Windows + L). I don't see anything that would change this in game prefs, so I'll look elsewhere, but I did notice something in configure controls that I know what it is: Sys Key Layout, on the right side below handedness setting. What does this function do?
Also, does anyone know how I can disable the hotkeys while running myth so i don't get tabbed and locked? Or at least what the proper term for that is, when you press windows + L and it locks so i can google it.

Re: Game Controls
Honestly the best solution for disabling windows keys is to buy a keyboard that has a "gaming mode" switch on it or similar - that's exactly what it does. I know of no software solution to do that in Windows Vista/7.
Sys key layout has something to do with alternate keyboard layouts like, say, asian or french keyboards. Try toggling it on/off and see what changes but I don't think it'll make any difference if you use a US keyboard layout anyways.

Re: Game Controls
Ok then nothing really relevant. I just know that older patches used to have "Run myth as priority" so no other hotkeys or anything would interfere. Back when I used to revamp this laptop on its XP operating system, the first few games back to myth, it would bump to desktop anytime I even touched the windows key, but I don't remember what I did... if anything.... to turn it off. I've been dumped to desktop on a few other occasions too while playing... it lets me get back into the game, but nothing else seemed to pop up in the background so I'm really not sure why its acting like that.
Re: Game Controls
That had nothing to do with hotkeys. It was there for situations where other programs would tax the processor too much making Myth choppy. It has since become obselete. The reason the problem went away for a time was due to fixes to Myth and how it did certain things. It came back because Vista/7 do things differently compared to the older operating systems we have been used to running. Perhaps a new solution for this problem will eventually be found.
I just tried it on a computer with Vista. While Windows+L did lock the computer, using Alt+Windows+L did not cause a lockout as I had suggested for you try in a different thread. Not the perfect solution, but at least its a work around you can use.

Re: Game Controls
Unlikely, as Microsoft basically determined that some windows-key combinations are "special" and should always work. So like Control-Alt-Delete, they are intercepted directly by Windows and the application never sees them nor has any control over what to do with them. Hence the only real solution is a keyboard that can disable those keys.Pyro wrote:TPerhaps a new solution for this problem will eventually be found.
Still though, other than the special characters (which you need to do the ALT thing for), you get used to not accidentally hitting the windows key pretty quickly, and furthermore very little harm is done when the game is run in "windowed full screen mode" anyways.
Re: Game Controls
There's a registry hack to disable it:
http://www.computeranthem.com/registry- ... -windows-7
For 1.8 I'll have Myth change that key dynamically, if it has the required privileges to do so. It's not an ideal solution, but I believe it's the best possible at this time. That way if it's a big deal to someone, we can just tell them to run as admin or disable UAC.

Re: Game Controls
I've looked at a lot of gaming keyboards, which don't really interest me, but can myth be reprogrammed to use hotkeys on those keyboards? Like F13-F20 buttons are presets and only need to be pressed by themselves to bring up a preset? I'm so used to Alt+# at this point I could probably never make a change now, just wondering if it was possible.

Anyone want to buy my SUV? Asking $30k for it. High performance, off-road capable, celebrity-owned, complete with autographed stitching in the seats and autographed dashboard.

Would your life improve with one of these?
Re: Game Controls
You can't map them uniquely as they are not sent to the operating system. You can, however map them to do ALT-# or something. You just can't go then and map ALT-# to do something else in Myth, because the macro keys are just going to send that key combination to the game.BIG KROK V8 SS wrote:Like F13-F20 buttons are presets and only need to be pressed by themselves to bring up a preset?
