D-DAY 1944 HR 1.9

Post by Olong2 »

Sorry if I missed any previous discussion, but over at The Tain is a plug-in by Carlinho called "D-DAY 1944 HR 1.9". How many here have run it?

Seems to be a Beta, and not everything works well (solo scripting/multiplayer levels) but the work itself is stunning. If you missed it, definitely worth a long look simply for the excellent hi-res models, maps, textures, sounds, and units.

Does the author plan an update?

Have since changed my search terms and discovered a five-page discussion on the D-DAY plug-in.

Nevermind!

Hey dude, thanks a lot for the compliment ! !
Yep, need to fix pass ability on the maps and I guess there's tons of things to fix, but kind of left it there for the lack of time... But loved someone found it and liked it! Will definitely thanks to that fix some bugs and post it final ! Merry Christmas !

Glad to hear it! Looking forward. Outstanding work; must've taken a long time and a lot of effort.

I have 1.8, haven't tried 1.9 yet. A few suggestions for an otherwise insanely awesome map:

The units are really hard to control; the animations are good, but when it comes to battle, it seems to be laggy. Takes the guys too long to fire once they have aimed, and also a pretty long wait for throwing too. Adding taunts for all units would also be nice. I don't know if its just me, but the pathfinding seems weird also, sort of similar to maybe TFL-style gameplay where there is a lot of moonwalking and indecision on the unit's behalf of what paths to take.

Other than gameplay improvements, the artwork and WATER especially is brilliant. Also some things that haven't seemed to work yet, also in the multiplayer maps but I'm sure you are already working on those. I can't recall off the top of my head what isn't working at the moment.

Hey I been messing around with 1.9. My old computer can't handle it at all, but its super slow anyway. I was wondering if you, Carlinho, want me to make a list of things that I find and suggestions for your final release? By the way, I have an old model Jeep Willys, and I think the one you made looks freakin awesome. The guy actually shifts the gear too lol.
