i am sure connor or playatapus (sp) has a copy of the code so it's no doubt 'safe'.
People are always losing old source code so I don't want to be complacent about that.
given the malicious tendencies of some in the community, i can't imagine them wanting to release the source code to a server they are still trying to run.
Yeah, I wouldn't release it publically either. I remember after the time I accidentally discovered a way of crashing Bungie.net that some people were eager to learn how to do it for themselves. There would've been pandemonium if I had told anybody

which objectively is an odd thing. what is the appeal in crashing a server that lets you play your favorite game?

i don't mean it's odd that you figured it out, just don't understand why anyone would be eager to be able to do that.

Because, as Alfred put it, 'some men just want to watch the world burn.'
The cake is a lie.

Yeah imagine that sort of thing during a tournament or similar from a team that is knocked out, or just general trolling. That would be an unacceptable security flaw :)
