Hi guys,
I doubt anyone here remembers me. I founded Ancrik back in the day, which some of you might remember...
Anyway, I'm now a partner of a small software development firm called Rubicite Interactive. We do web-development to support ourselves while (slowly) working on games. If all goes well, our first release should see the light of day sometime in 2013.
I am pushing for our second release to be something in the style/genre of Myth. I imagine that it is much more likely for that to happen if we don't have to start from scratch where it comes to engine development, so I'm wondering if there's anyone here (like the Project Magma guys) who might have a Point of Contact with Take2 for me to try approaching.
Thanks for any help you can offer,
Jeffrey "Kith-Kanan" Blake

Anyone know a POC at Take2?

Re: Anyone know a POC at Take2?
After reading through almost everything in the iPad porting thread, I'm concluding that looking for a way to work with Take2 on this would be a waste of time. Unfortunate, but that's the way the cookie crumbles, I suppose.
Re: Anyone know a POC at Take2?
You would be correct. Buying Myth would be too expensive to be worth it. Maybe licensing the game engine? That would likely still cost more than its worth, or not. No one did bother to check on that aspect as far as I heard.

The game engine is all we would really be interested in anyway, I think. But from what I'm reading it seems like that's unlikely to be possible, even if it was going to be a good investment (time vs $$$) for us. It'll definitely take longer to do everything from scratch, but so be it.

Kith please don't give up hope. It never hurts to try and you never know what might happen.

I'm not giving up hope. I'm just thinking that we'll have more programming to do than might have been ideal. Either way it is going to be a few years before we get it out the door - real development won't even start until we have things wrapping up on our current project.

George Lucas couldn't get the rights to make Flash Gordon, so he made Star Wars.
A similar thing is going to have to happen with Myth, if you ask me.

Okay I got the models but now I'm too dumb to do anything with 'em
Re: Anyone know a POC at Take2?
Someone please send George Lucas a copy of Myth to see if he's interested.
Maybe that nice boxed set for sale on the other thread?

Re: Anyone know a POC at Take2?
If I can shape the future the way I want, Rubicite will be making an entirely new game, based on the the game play behind Myth. I have every reason to believe that this will eventually happen. But I doubt we'll see a release until at least the 2nd half of 2014.
George certainly could get the budget to beat us to the punch.

I'd actually prefer someone other than George Lucas create a Myth-like game.
