From the video it looks like it's another Renwood project or at least he's involved.

I am don't follow Kickstarter regularly but I've never seen such a high $$ goal with such a short window. The good thing with Kickstarter of course is that you can donate and you'll only be charged if the entire $450,000 is raised by the end date of the kickstarter project. If it's even one penny short you don't lose any money. What happens to your money once a project has reached it's goal is up to the people behind the project, but I doubt you'll have to worry about that in this instance.

revan take your negative attitude somewhere else, facebook included - this is my real life we're talking about and an actual chance to make something amazing.

if we win, everyone else does too. get over all of this politics BS, theres a reason i didnt advertise on here, it's just going to stir up the vocal minority who have preconceptions totally separate from the professional undertaking we are trying to do.

Look - we dont want to change the myth you know and love. If you dont like the single player campaign, youll always be able to convert any previous maps to the new format. We want to give Myth to the people, not hoard it for ourselves.

PS all bygones are bygones in our eyes, anyone who wants to be a part of the team is more than welcome. (Myrd, melekor, Punkuser, etc, we would pay a handsome salary for dedicated myth engine coding - enough to put your dayjob on hold)

We are leaving forum politics in the past and if you want myth to succeed I hope you take a similar attitude. Love you all, wish us luck.

Seeing how its Ooga writing an essay of defensive material. I'm going to say it's safe to assume this is indeed a Renwood and friends project.

Theres nothing negative about raising suspicions on a shady project.

First comment on the kickstarter page wrapped it all up well.

I don't wish you any ill will, but without seeing any kind of breakdown for how you anticipate spending that $450K - and given that several of the features you are advertising (further zoomed out camera, texture maps) have already been coded by Magma devs it sounds like you are asking for $450K to create a 20-level solo campaign for Myth 2 - granted it sounds like a HQ campaign with higher res units, original music, and a few features not yet released in the current version of Myth - but $450K?

This is the kind of attitude that people need to grow up and let go of.

Theres a very concrete reason we didnt put the budget pie chart graphic (that already exists) up yet.

I suggest anyone with doubts wait until THE NEXT VIDEO UPDATE to start voicing them.

Normally when you launch one of these campaigns, it is expected that everything is made clear in the opening pitch. Does Take 2 even know about this? Do they know that they'll be expected to sell you the Myth license once you make your $450K?

Sorry, but everything points to this being a scam. By all means, prove us wrong.

Nothing points to a scam. There is nothing to support that. You can say there needs to be more information, but if you have 10 minutes and a browser it's very easy to see that these are all real people with rooted lives who are not some anonymous money collection agency. It's very easy and obvious, and i'm not sure how someone who you know has been in the community longer than 99% of mythers have is anything but a passionate developer?

OK, let's not call it a scam, then it's an incredible display of naivety. You can't take a company's intellectual property and attempt to make a sequel without them knowing it.

The Kickstarter states:

"Upon reaching our funding goals we can obtain the license"

Like I said, does Take 2 know they'll be expected to hand out the rights to a sequel for one of their legally held intellectual properties?

Friend, I would take this project down immediately... your real names are tied to this. That or give us clarification that Take 2 is aware of this.

You dont know much about kickstarter, IP legality, or anything else if you continue to say these things. Sorry man but you're displaying the only naivete here. Do more research on how kickstarter works and the actual legal implications of what we are doing.

It is 100% within the purview of legality, no matter how you slice it. Go read the kickstarter guidelines and go read up on other SUCCESSFULLY FUNDED PROJECTS who did THE EXACT SAME THING WE ARE DOING NOW.

You also failed to realize your question about the license has already been answered numerous times. Maybe instead of bumping this useless, horrible post by revan you could articulate your thoughts in the ACTUAL ANNOUNCEMENT THREAD?

Its very rude to continually post in this obviously derogatory post by revan when the actual announcement is one topic away. Act like adults, if you can't support us, stop being jerks and trying to sabotage us.

If there's a very concrete reason you could just say what that reason is without giving the details of the "pie chart graphic".

I am not trying to cast aspersions on you or your passion or commitment to Myth, but expecting to raise $450K in two weeks without giving any even high level description of how that money will be spent seems to indicate either an unfamiliarity with how successful kickstarter campaigns work or a lack of serious planning for a project of this scope. Dreams are good, but if you want people to cough up close to half a million dollars for what sounds like a 20 level solo conversion with some unofficial magma mods in the game engine you need to make a compelling case - more compelling than "This is a new Myth game!" That argument was hashed out during the run of the original Myth 4: The Wind Age project.

I'll watch the next video, hopefully it will answer all my questions.
