Things change over time and this game is still very early on in it's overall development life (which hopefully extends to add-ons and potentially other devices/platforms) but to quote fisj from the gateofstorms forums:

"Deadhold will be PC/Mac/Linux."

Hey all!

Quick update ... Deadhold got Greenlit on Steam today! Huge thanks to everyone who voted for us! This means we can now publish Deadhold on Early Access when we decide we're ready. Lots for us devs to discuss internally with this hurdle now cleared, but I wanted to share the big news. :)

Hello folks,

As an unimportant person in this community, I just wanted to give my two cents about Deadhold.

As others said, the mere existence of this project is a blessing and it's looking pretty darned good. I got fed up with ressource-gathering strategy games pretty early, and I'm not into huge Total War-like tactical games. A modern implementation of Myth-like gameplay is long overdue and it looks like this project has got right people to deliver.

I won't focus on ways to reproduce or improve Myth gameplay - I'm not good enough at Myth to do so. Better ask competitive players.

I'm just worried about two things and telling about them in case anyone might be interested.

(1) Deadhold units vs Myth units
How close will the Deadhold units roster be to the Myth units roster ? Is there gonna be a Fetch-like unit for instance ? Is the idea only to have game mechanics somewhat similar to Myth, or to have a somewhat similar balance between melee, ranged units, artillery, etc ?
What makes Myth so great ? Is it the game mechanics or the balance of the units - among other things, for sure ?

(2) Third-party plugins
My case may be totally irrelevant. But still, the reason why I have been playing this game for 16 years is third-party maps and units. Again I might be irrelevant. I'm the kind of player that has been playing this game regularily but casually for 16 years, and in the end, never really got better, never took part in a tournament, barely even played competitively and actually only been playing online for the last 5 or 6 years. I may not be the kind of player that matters. Half the readers of this post will not know who I am.
But I have been playing for 16 years - offline, in coop, and toying around with third-party maps and units - early creation stuff, modern warfare, civil war units, etc. Over 16 years Myth has allowed many skilled people to express their creativity, ingeniosity and sheer talent. None of this would have been possible without some kind of map editing tools.

I know I'm not a worthy target for a new game. Maybe what remains of the Myth community is not the main target in the first place.
Also I'm sure Deadhold will be a great game. It will have great reviews, great sales, will attract many players. But how many of these players will still be playing Deadhold 16 years after it has been released ?
I'm sure that whatever decisions you might take about this game, without mimicking Myth, you will never forget to think of what made Myth such a great game.

Big Bro,

I liked your words, especially the last :
... without mimicking Myth, you will never forget to think of what made Myth such a great game.
