Windows are clipped in MacOS Sonoma.

Post by Obelix »

I recently got a MacBook Air with Sonoma but I often get a bug when running Myth.

The pre-game windows get clipped and various buttons, checkboxes and options are hidden off the frame of the windows. This does not occur if I am running Myth using an external monitor, only on the MacBook's Air built in display, which has an odd size of 2880-by-1864.

Could the developers try to address this?

Can you post the contents of your myth_log.txt file?

It sounds like it's using an interface resolution beyond 640x480 but the window is not being sized correctly.

Or if you use Discord and can be around, we can debug it together. It's not something that reproduces for me, so I'm not sure what the cause is. Do you get the issue even in a fresh directory with only the required patch plugins installed?

The latest myth_log is attached. But I do not have the issue of the clipped window when I am using an external monitor, only when using the built in display of the MacBookAir M2.

Thanks, I believe I know what's going wrong.
Your built-in display doesn't report 800x600 as a valid native resolution and unfortunately the code is set up such that it is still expecting it to be there for windowed mode to use it.

I can take a look at getting that fixed at some point later this month. For now, you can workaround this by removing "Myth II Interface (800x600)" from your plugins folder.

I removed the "Myth II Interface (800x600)" as you suggeste and it works fine now with the built in display, without relying on an external monitor.

I can now go back to wasting colossal amounts of time. Thanks!

When you have a chance, can you try this build of Myth II to see if the problem goes away?

This is the app, so just put it in the Myth II folder alongside the normal one and launch from it to test.

Here's a copy of the 800x600 interface you can replace if you deleted yours, before testing:

I had a similar issue on a Mac Studio with external Apple Studio Display on macOS Sonoma 14.3.1. The build provided here didn't resolve the issue for me; however, removing the Myth II Interface (800 x 600) plugin as suggested did resolve the issue.
