1.5.1beta OGL
OpenGL is new for windows users in 1.5.1.
OpenGL/Direct3D Performance benchmark:
This are from a AMD XP 3200+ /w a ATI Radeon 9600 /w 128mb of VRAM running on a AGP 8x /w a 400Mhz DAC. ATI driver 6.14.10.6483.
I've got the driver set to force 4x Full screen anti-aliasing and 16x Anisotropic filtering running in 1280x1024.
For OpenGL I unchecked the Highrez box, since this is only for people who get artifacts on there screen when it's turned off.
Using the opening of Willow creek for a standard bench mark, I tested the following areas on the map. First the units all lined up looking at the wind mill(open sequence after the units move into view), then I rotated to the right to remvoe the wind mill from view and just say water, then I moved the units across the creek and put them on top of the hill on the other side.
OGL D3D
Opening 48fps 80fps
Creek 51fps 106fps
Hill 58fps 180fps
These #s should provide a point of reference to determine if you have problems or not.

On OpenGL 1.5 I used to average between 30-45 normally with fps up to 400 max (depending on map, # of units etc). Now on 1.5.1 I average between 14-32 normally with fps only up to 220 max. I noticed it immediately and also my camera movement seems choppy now. I tried turning on/off Hi-res and it has absolutely no effect (and I don't think I could ever tell any difference under normal circumstances anyway).
So that's what 1.5.1 is doing to me
iMac 1.25 Megahertz
OS 10.2.8
