Not really, compared to any modern engine.A-Red wrote:Considering mod developers aren't on a salary, it sounds fair to me. Myth is a complicated game to map for.Amadeus wrote:4+ years to produce a 'game', wait sorry no, a mod to a game?
There have been single level mods (like Mazz) that took over a year to make, and the proposed project has a lot more than one level. But I might just be biased on this matter.
True.
Exactly. Then again, it sounds like some of these guys are on a salary.
John Romero co-founded iD Software with John Carmack and did much of the game design for Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Doom II, Quake, and a few other earlier games. He left and created Ion Storm, which he tried to make a paradise for game development. His being involved was enough to cause large amounts of attention to be directed towards the company, and such was his certainty that the game he was developing (Daikatana) would be a success that he took out ads like this one.carlinho wrote:excuse my ignorance but who the hell is john romero or daikatana?
Daikatana was announced in 1997 and supposed to ship for the holiday season that year. It was at the time based on the Quake engine. In November 1997, development switched to the Quake II engine, resulting in the rewriting of most of the code base. More release dates came and went, until finally the game shipped in 2000 to mixed reviews which were turned solidly negative by the missed release dates and other PR missteps.
You do not get a more modern engine than Quake II was in 1998, nor do you get a more well-recognized name than John Romero was at the time.

There's a crucial difference here. You've always had an awesome attitude towards people and the previews of your work have spoken for themselves.carlinho wrote:I've been like 3 years now with the greek tagset and I could well be a while more...
