basically I have a Ballista unit, and would love to be able to use the ballista (fire) only when there are ballista operators around it.
So if you kill the operators it doesn't fire anymore.
It's pretty simple to do it through scripting (like in "landing at white falls"
but is there a way to do it through FEAR????
thanks as usual!
how to tie a unit to another's attack - cannonmen to cannons, etc

If you rendered the two units together (ie ballista with an operator standing nearby) then you could make the ballista a projectile that the operator can "pick up" as an artifact. Using the new monster override features in Fear you can then make it use a new monster that has the sequences with the operator & ballista together.
If I was making B&G now that's what I'd do with the cannons instead of the scripted stuff that's there now (I believe that's what Point is doing in his Civil War remake). It also allows enemy operators to capture your ballista and use them, as the untended ballista is just a projectile.

hey carlino... glad to see you survived your trip.. and phex sent me the script for doing that ... probably via iron... but as iron said the better way seems to make them monster changing artifacts...
I rendered sequences with units so they could have one or two operators working the weapon... when they die they drop the artifact (weapon) another unit can then come along and take it over by picking it up. cant holster or shoulder is the key so they cant just put the canon in their pocket.
p.s.
the first through the seventh looks like my next trip north. work has been busy lately so I havn't had any time for myth though that week I could maybe make a little time.

if one does not learn from the failings of the past they are likely to suffer its return.
