Ok, so I found something out. When I have not much running in the way of memory or I guess maybe CPU usage Myth II runs really bad. But, I had a few firefox windows opened to image heavy sites and it caused firefox to use up about 80 mbs of ram. When I had the windows open Myth II was smooth (except for some times when it stutters a little bit, fraps reports the fps dropping from 30 to 26).

So i'm thinking maybe its because too much CPU is going into Myth II or something? There was a fix for Windows Service Pack 2 (which I have) which dealt with CPU usage being around 100% for a program which would cause it to run poorly ironically. Has anyone heard about this?

Anyway, really weird.

There's no need to use fraps to see the FPS - you can press the Delete key and it shows a FPS counter at the top-right of the screen.
Have you tried turning hyperthreading off?

Delete key is unreliable when i'm testing, there's a direct correlation between fraps showing an FPS of 21 (or anything below 30) and the screen stuttering. I have an FX-55.
