Metaserver Source Code

Post by irons »

Hi! I'm irons. I am a Marathon player, and for about a year and a half, Aleph One (the open-source Marathon engine) has been able to connect to MariusNet's metaserver. However, Mnet isn't always up (the past two days have been spotty, and we've gone at least a month without meta before). So I decided to try building my own metaserver from the source code for emergencies.

I'm one of those idiots running PPC Linux. So I was wary when I read that both OS X and Linux are supported; I hoped the PPC part of OS X would combine with Linux to make things work, but it didn't :P

I get some odd errors that apparently relate to my system's header files; from what I understand, the headers in question are archictecture-dependent, so I guess PPC is messing things up again. Do any of the metaserver devs know of any way to fix it? I'll give you the compile error messages and other relevant info if you want. And I'm very willing to help in testing revisions that attempt to fix the problem.

Thanks!

Omg! It's irons! The guy who said on Pfhorums that I spammed more than Godot!

Now that I've got that out of the way, welcome. :D
And it's sad that M.net is down... I was going (with the Myth Jumpers) to play myth on there today. Is it down completely?

I've been the maintainer of that codebase, so I would probably be the best person to help you. Email me at myrd -at- projectmagma.net so we can discuss the problems you're getting in more detail.

MNet is probably not down for good. I've heard that around this time of the month, it is taken down for maintenance. It's just nice to have a backup, if necessary.

Myrd, I'll get in touch with you right away.

That's great that it's working for Marathon, but will it be possible to make it run Myth II?
