Okay, I'm now playing on my wonderful new HDTV (Link to picture) with it's resolution of 1366 x 768 that I'm using for a monitor.
For the OS I'm running it as 1280 x 720 which is fine, a tiny bit stretched but I sit a good 2m from my screen so I don't notice.

However, I fire up Myth 2 v1.6 today for the first time since getting it and the only options I get for resolution are 640 x 480 and 800 x 600. This is for both screens, even my 20" Apple Cinema Display (which I used to play Myth at 1680 x 1050 res) gets those same two resolutions.

Neither are any good as they don't fill the screen, how do I force a higher resolution?

This is OS X.4.8 on a Dual 2.5ghz PowerMac G5 running NVidia 6800 Ultra 256mb graphics card. HDTV is the main screen (obviously :D) and the 20" is the secondary screen.

What exact model is that television?

PS the complete Red Dwarf, 7 Van Hellsing DVDs, Donnie Darko and a knife??

The manufacturer is Digimate who I'd never heard of before. I got it from dabs.com for £390, it was being advertised as 'dabsvalue' which is there own sort of economy brand thing.
It's awesome for all things, just that Myth doesn't seem to recognise resolutions like it should.

I believe Myth II asks the OS to list all available resolutions, and then only lists those that match the ones it supports.

Now, ignoring your 20 inch monitor, most likely the HDTV doesn't support any standard resolutions above 800x600 (that is, all the higher ones are non-standard, and thus not supported by Myth II).

Myth II doesn't have very good support for multiple monitors, so it probably only asks for supported resolutions for your primary monitor, which happens to be the HDTV.

Any chance of a 1280 x 720 res then? It's the same ratio as
Or support for stretched 1024 x 768 resolutions? 640 x 480 and 800 x 600 are unplayable as it crushes the whole thing in the corner of the screen.

I mean, I don't even need interface elements sized to fit, I turn as many of them off as I can, because I know what the unit portraits look like and what all the formations are by this point :)
Sorry that this isn't really an ideal time to find an issue, as I haven't really had much chance to Myth in a while, not at all since getting the HDTV.
But if all that's needed is a new interface tag then it's not that time consuming for me to make one that fits. Or even elements of the bigger resolutions fit anyway, worst that can happen is the background of the bars run off the edge of the screen but that's not going to be visible anyway.

Well... 1280x768 is supported ... you just need to squeeze 48 more pixel onto your screen :P.

Unfortunately, code changes are required for each supported resolution, not just an interface tag.

If we have 1280 x 768 then we already have an interface tag so it's just the code change, optional update anyone? :)

I wnated to know the exact model to try & figure out if it;s one of those HDTVs that doesn't accept as high of a resolution input as the display LCD actually has pixels - it is possible your HDTV may display the higher resolution but not accept that as an input, or there are obscure Hz compatibility issues. There are alot of weird and crippling deficiencies in alot of HDTVs - some can't even display an Xbox 360's HD signal.

It's not the HDTV, the OS runs it happily at 1280 x 720, I don't think my graphics card supports the native 1366 x 768, but 1280 x 720 is fine for me.
It's only Myth that I'm having this issue, and UT2k4 but you can edit a custom resolution into the UT2004.ini file for that so it was no biggy.
