What are the best mapmaking guides/tutorials?

In hopes of coming up with a list of mapmaking related guides and tutorials (and resources?) to create a useful sticky topic...

For as many of the following topics as you feel qualified to post about (or other related topics if you think of any others):

What are the best mapmaking guides/articles you know of? Feel free to post multiples - identify guides by category if you can. e.g. It's useful to know that a mapmaking guide is a good reference for unit editing or adding water to a map or whether it's a good overall A-Z beginner's guide.

Some potential categories:

1) A-Z mapmaking guides that if you follow you will end up with a playable map

2) Intermediate/Reference mapmaking guides: Sources of info you refer to once you know the basics but wouldn't be of much use to a newbie.

Some Specific mapmaking topics/categories:

3) Submap creation/editing (Colormapping, terrain, displacement, shadow , reflection,etc), Scripting, Unit editing, Unit creation, Sounds, General Fearing, General Loathing, other tool specific guides, making multiplayer maps, making solo maps, etc.
