Myth and WinXP help for newbie!
I just got my first WinXP machine, an Acer Aspire one laptop for work, and wanted to put Myth on it. I have the box set from years ago that I used on my Mac, and wanted to put Myth 2 on the XP and play it. I dowloaded the 1.5.1 demo onto the Acer, but the three files, one noted as an executable, would not run. Since I know little about using XP, is there something I need to do to make this demo run? Also, is there a problem with the CD Myth 2 erasing my harddrive if I load it onto my XP machine? I know I need to update Myth 2, any suggestions after I load from the cd? Haven't yet loaded from teh cd as I need an external drive to load. Any help for a total newbie to XP most appreciated, thanks!

The Uninstaller wiping the hard drive thing was only in very rare 1.0 Myth 2 CDs and it only happens if you install to the root directory and then use the uninstaller. This should be in the Myth Starter Guide.
Does that laptop have the latest service pack installed?
When you say the three files did not run, what do you mean? Maybe the download was corrupted?
Edit: where did you download the other demo from?

Maybe he downloaded the demo for Windows and the one for the Mac. And then downloaded one of the updates.
Well if you did anything like that, you didn't need to. Just download one demo. Pick the one that runs with your operating system. No update needed. The update is for the full version of the game.

the demo came from gameshell, and it automatically broke into a html file, a txt. file and an application file, the application file would not run, the file I got from this site ran fine, so the demo is up and running, ya! Now, I just need to figure out how to get the files from my old cd of Myth, Myth2, and the expansion onto my optical drive-less computer!
