Memories Of The Mill

Post by GodzFire »

On a totally random whim today, I decided to see if the Internet Wayback Machine had a record of The Mill in it's past glory.

Luckily I was able to find it:

http://web.archive.org/web/*/mill.bungie.org
http://web.archive.org/web/*//mill.evihcra.com/

The Mill is present from the 2000 entries to the 2001 ones. After that, it's turned into a NetAnalyzer page.

The best example of The Mill still in tact and in it's prime is this date:

A lot of the links are still functional, and take you to the plugins, however you can't download them. Check out the top rated and top downloaded on the right. The Member Profiles also still work.

Here's a list of the All Time Must Have's for Myth; a venerable who's who from the Glory Days: http://web.archive.org/web/200104051914 ... =musthaves.

Look at those downloads.

*sigh* what I wouldn't give to see it again

Fileball WAS the mill. Same people, same files, same site name (The Mill) just different url and overall 'branding'. Fileball was the overall sitename of the file site 'network', The Mill was one of the subsites - other subsites at Fileball included Marathon, Red Faction, I think even the Sims at one point.

You can find pages from more Mill incarnations past at the Internet Archive by looking at other places it was hosted over the years. Other than the 2 you mentioned already, these two are the only other ones I remember off-hand, there might be more - not sure.

Another myth file download site which was promising and which was briefly in some kind of partnership with the mill (unless I am completely misremembering the details) is

I miss the Mill...nice to see that one link has two of my plugins posted, whoot!
http://web.archive.org/web/200210170615 ... .net/mill/

NEW&IMPROVED... I don't even remember that one...lol. Was that before or after HOC?

It's a shame those files couldn't have just been stored elsewhere. It really sucked that they just said it was going down for maintenance and the next day GONE!
