Adding Units to Fallen Levels Plugin
Hi all,
Is there any way I can add units from Myth 2 to the maps in the Fallen Levels plugin? If possible, I'd like to play the old Myth 1 maps with some of the new units from Myth 2.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Adding Units to Fallen Levels Plugin
Sure it is possible. You'll need application called Topaz to do this (or UnTag, though I've never used it, so I'll explain how it works with Topaz). Launch Topaz, click File -> Open and select Fallen Levels plugin file. Then click Disassemble and find a local folder which is in your Myth 2 directory. Hit OK and you'll have a lot of folders and files in your local folder. Now you'll be able to edit Fallen Levels plugin (all of it's maps, units, projectiles etc.) in Loathing or Fear. If you just want to add some new units, you'll want to open Loathing where you can edit all the maps.
Adding units is pretty simple and intuitive, though if you want them to do specific things, you'll have to use scritping. But if you just want to have few more Heron Guards on your side or switch your Dwarves with Warlocks, then there's no need to use scripting at all.

Re: Adding Units to Fallen Levels Plugin
One additional question:
Once I've disassembled the plugin and added the units to the meshes, will I have to convert all the files back to a monolithic plugin in order to play Myth 1? Is there a tool I can use to assemble the files into a plugin again?
I thought perhaps I would be able to play Myth 1 from the extracted folders, but some of the meshes from the plugin have the same names as some Myth 2 meshes (e.g. 01 Village). It looks like converting the files back to a plugin would be the best option, but not sure which tool I can use.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Adding Units to Fallen Levels Plugin
Use UnTag. It's insanely easier than Topaz and it supports all 3 Myth games.
Re: Adding Units to Fallen Levels Plugin
He means instead of topaz. To recompile a 'local' folder into a 'plugin file' you simply use Fear.
Re: Adding Units to Fallen Levels Plugin
Yes, to compile all the tags to one plugin file, you'll have to use Fear. Just click File -> Build Plug-in file and then select all the tags that you want to be used.
Re: Adding Units to Fallen Levels Plugin
Once you use Fear to build a plugin, it gets made in your plugins folder. You will then have to rename your local folder or delete it so Myth 2 doesn't try to load anything from it. You keep saying Myth 1, I hope you are referring to the Myth 2 plugin and not the actual Myth TFL game. On the off chance you meant the game, then what everyone is telling you won't be enough.
If you want to add units to the maps, you will use Loathing for that. Make sure you get Fear/Loathing from the latest Myth update, so you have the latest versions of them.
Oh, and Gugusm, you should use UnTag instead of Topaz. UnTag works for all 3 Myth games and can extract the new tag types introduced by 1.7. And there are Mac and Windows versions of UnTag on the Tain.

Yeah, I know it works for all Myth games, I just used Topaz long time ago and haven't tried anything else, because Topaz have been working fine. But I'll try UnTag... and what are the new tag types which are you reffering to?Pyro wrote:Oh, and Gugusm, you should use UnTag instead of Topaz. The tag types are "detail textures" and "detail maps" for the use of Landscape Textures.
Re: Adding Units to Fallen Levels Plugin
I could make a tagset for the fallen levels that gives you M2 units, I think, that is, if anyone wants it.

Re: Adding Units to Fallen Levels Plugin
Mission was a success -- I was able to add in some M2 units to the Fallen Levels and play all meshes. Myth TFL is so much more satisfying when regular TFL Dwarves (who seem to throw their bottles up rather than across) are replaced by Dwarven Mortar Heroes. Thank you all for your responses.
Re: Adding Units to Fallen Levels Plugin
Aye, if you want, after reading this topic, I went and made a tagset which can be activated along with The Fallen Levels, to make it just use the standard Myth 2 units on The Fallen Levels, and all artifacts/levels should be finishable.ThreeTigerSilverWind wrote:Mission was a success -- I was able to add in some M2 units to the Fallen Levels and play all meshes. Only bug I am aware of isn't fixable, and that's the fact that the TFL meshes can't be set on fire. :/ I could only do this by making a new version of TFL and that would just mean waay too much downloading for anyone that wanted to try this.

I downloaded your tagset -- thanks for the file and the mention in the Read Me.
