1.7 out-of-sync

Post by Curlystraw »

I recently started playing myth again, and was very happy that there was a new update! However, whenever I try to play over tcp/ip with a family member, the game goes out-of-sync. It seems to happen when a unit dies, but we're not sure.

More info would be useful. Was the other computer using 1.7? Does it go OOS with default Myth 2 maps or was it a plugin you were playing? Was your "local" folder empty? It is located in your Myth II folder. What about the local folder of the other computer? If it wasn't empty what was in it? What does your myth log say? It is a file located in your Myth II folder called "myth_log.txt". It gets cleared each time you load Myth, Fear, and Loathing. Fear and Loathing are Myth mapmaking editors. Do you go OOS if you play by yourselves? If your local folder was not empty, you can delete it. Certain files in the local folder would not cause issues like custom formations and a few others.

sorry, wasn't sure what info to include... We were playing using the TFL Multipack plugin, the local folder was empty, and the log listed this:
OOS occurred at line 1132 in .\Myth2Code\monster_commands.c - game time: 5134

What does the rest of the log say? Sometimes it may have some other info that helps. Did you save the film of it? If so mind uploading it somewhere? One of the magma devs might wish to take a look.

I did not save a film of it, and other than "unable to find cutscene: 'prologue''" there is no indication that anything else was wrong. If it keeps happening and nothing seems to work, I'll save the film and upload it.

Just because the rest of the log doesn't indicate any warnings or errors does not mean it can't be useful. The log would indicate what patch plugins you loaded, what build of 1.7 you are using, what OS you are using, and a few other things

oh. I just tried to play another game, and this time, it didn't go OOC. Not sure if something went right, or if it was just a lucky 1-in-4 chance.

Next time, if OOS happens, please save a film and post it here.

It would be useful in finding the cause so we can fix it for the next update. By the way, what map were you playing from the Fallen Levels?
