Drinking Party - I'm sure this shouldn't happen

So me and a few others were going through it, and after the big ghol wave we had 1 dorf left and no sats. So of course I'm thinking time to rehost blah blah blah, however after father mac runs around the statue throwing molotovs, he somehow manages to destroy it without using massed sats or bottles.

Was this always the case? I was sure this shouldn't be possible. I have the film if you want to see it.

Just because the cumulative damage isn't animated (like it is on M2:Wall, for instance), doesn't mean that the trigger isn't based on cumulative damage.
