Reviews of Myth II: Dark Campaign
by Murgen
Love it. The colormaps aren't gorgeous, the scripting isn't fancy, the new unit looks pretty bad...but it's one of those plugins that is really fun to play anyway. The story is good, and each level is simple and quick to just the right degree, while still offering something new and interesting most of the time. It can't be ranked next to The Seventh God or Jinn, but I'd call it a must-have, along with Murgen's other campaign, Return of the Spider Cult.
A nice set of levels, though it is clear that many of them lack the quality that we come to expect of Myth maps, especially in terms of colormaps. However, the storyline is not bad, and they can be fun to play. The last level is the best of the pack, and not too easy on Legendary.
Good fun levels, difficult but not frustrating, lovely storyline, interesting gameplay. That was the good news. The bad news is that the pregames and sounds were unimpressive, as much as I liked it overall.
