Reviews of Sisters of the Blade
by Giant of Creation
A legendary TC. The new world is well fleshed out by the story, which is told excellently. The units are less pretty than those of other TCs of this caliber, but they are fun and balanced, with good concepts. Everything is constantly shifting--each level has completely different gameplay (in keeping with the story), and a very different unit set to master, so it never even comes close to getting old. It feels too short in fact, which is a good feeling to be left with at the end of a plugin. You never get any archers (except a couple of easter egg ones in level 1), which can be frustrating but teaches you all sorts of new strategies that you would otherwise never be pushed to learn--and on another level, is just a really nice variation from the standard melee/archer/artillery force. In short: Sisters of the Blade is completely fresh and unique from beginning to end.
Sisters of the Blade combines an excellent story with an interesting gameplay.
Dont focus on the visual aspect of this plugin because the visual quality of the maps and units is only average compared to the rest. Some model textures are really ugly but the scenery is nice and there are a lot of lovely details spread around.
There are really unique concepts on a few maps which I cant tell without spoling funny surprises. Be sure to keep an eye on your units at all times. Some of these concepts have never been used anywhere else as far as I know.
What really annoyed me was that I felt lost in some of the levels and did not really know what to do. The story didnt give me any hints either.
Uh, for me...that was awful.
The story had no dynamics and no depth. Most of the units were lame and there was no point to them. Perhaps the best units were the killer kittens and Skadi people.
Some of the levels were so laggy, they were unplayable.
Sorry...I didn't like it.
Classic goodies. Not perfect but what is?
Sisters of the Blade was a delightful albeit short campaign. I found SoTB's story to be captivating and grew to care about Asher and her plight. I won't spoil anything here, but I found Asher to be a very well-thought-out character. Each level is unique in terms of units, challenges, and story. The writers behind the campaign knew how to keep surprises coming.
My only complaint was the campaign felt a little too short and the ending abrupt. I would have appreciated it if it had last for just one more level (there are a total of four), or at least have an outro like Myth II. Nevertheless, Sisters of the Blade proved to be fun and original. This is a Myth mod worth playing!
